Is there a good LA2A emulation on iOS?

I think the Fxpansion ChanComp in the Auria store is a good 1176 emulation, but I don't know of anything on iOS or Auria Store that emulates the LA2A well. I've read a few posts elsewhere saying the FabFilter Pro-C gets close, but I'm not hearing it with the suggested settings. Looking for that LA2A color, not transparency. The JamUp and Bias ones sound nice on guitar, but not so nice on vocals. Anyone know of anything that comes close?

  • Rough Rider should do the trick.

  • I was going to mention Rough Rider as well. Achieves similar results when pushed hard like the all buttons in setting on the LA2As.

Thanks for the replies. I was under the impression that Rough Rider is an 1176 FET emulation. Does it do opto style too?

I've yet to try this, but Anthony Alves, from the Auria forum recommended this set up in Auria Pro for something close to an LA2A. Here's the link, if anyone's interested. Of course, one needs the Auria plugins and AU apps he's recommended.

Interesting chain. Will have to try this out as well. Thanks for sharing.

And, as discussed above, Rough Rider is definitely more inline with the brutality of an 1176 all buttons in IMO. I suppose if you're gentle enough with it you could push it towards LA2A land, but that seems like a stretch. That's been my experience with it anyway. It's a great compressor, don't get me wrong. But it's definitely got a very heavy hand!

  • its called roughrider after all and yes...I always mix up 1176 and LA2A...can't ever seem to get that right...
