iConnectivity iConnect Audio 2. Is this still the best way to connect your iPad to your Computer?

Been considering getting a iConnect Audio 2 are there still driver issues with this or do they work as advertised now. Not withstanding further iOS 11 issues?

    If its good enough for kraftwerks live rig ...

  • Fair comment, anyone having problems with the boxes and latest ios

    I love my iconnectaudio4+. cannot comment on the 2 since i don't own it. but the 4+ is fantastic once you get over the learning curve for routing audio using their app. no issues at all on Windows 10 Pro 64bit and IOS 10.3.3 on my Air 2. i heard there are a few stumbling blocks with the app on IOS but using the pc app routing works as advertised.

  • My only regret with my ica2+ is that I cannot digitally plug two ipads or 1 iPad and 1 iPhone. If I would have been aware of this earlier, I would have bought the ica4+ instead...

    I'm not shure about package content in various countries, so you may check what's really shipped with the Audio-2.
    In particular this concern the special iDevice loading cable and powersupply.
    If those are not included, the Audio 4+ has the better price/value ratio and better software support.
    The Audio 2 lacks multi-host and even specific IOS support and is just class compliant.
    Imho it's overpriced for the audio quality it delivers, an Audient ID14 is only 40bucks more and comparable to Apogee interfaces.

    I'd also recommend the 4+ over the 2+.

    I was going to get a 2+ originally; I thought the only changes were amount of inputs, but as noted there are several differences in the way it functions and what you get in the box

    I got a second hand 4+ for the same price as a new 2+. Works perfectly on the latest public version of iOS. I'm even comfortable using it live, and have been doing so.

  • I would recommend the 4+. I love mine. Its just awesome. Heats up a bit but from what I have read, thats normal. Easily connect 2 iOS devices and keeps 1 charged, or 1 iOS and my Macbook Pro 10.11.16. Super great for sampling Kontact and other software into the iPad or vise versa.

    Actually it can charge 2 iOS devices. You need a spare cable. The 1A slot can keep my air 2 at a constant 100%. It charges slow but can easily maintain older iPads at full charge.

  • @gonekrazy3000 Cool. I did not know that. I might have to invest in an extra cable.

  • Ok guys thanks for all the info will have to save up been looking at the midi/ audio in out app options all afternoon see my other post.

  • For flexibility you probably won't get any better but there's a learning curve to all the routing like somebody mentioned. I have a iconnect audio 4+ and really like it.

  • I just had a thought about the iConnectAudio4+

    is it possible to set up an Aggregate device on my mac OS that will use the iConnectAudio4+ and another device - most likely my Line6 Helix?

    I just sent an email to iConnectivity asking something similar, they haven't responded yet.

    For the sake of clarity and putting it out there so anyone can comment on it, my e-mail:

    I'm very interested in acquiring your products, but I'm having some doubts on which.

    I heard you guys have an incredible support and might be able to help me,
    Past customers told me to email you guys asking about my set up and you'd clarify things for me.

    So, here's the deal:

    What I HAVE in my core setup:

    • Macbook with Ableton (DAW)
    • iPad Pro with Apps (Soft Synths, etc)
    • Teenage Engeneering OP-1 (Hard Synth) [Audio Line Out + USB Host Midi i/o]
    • Korg Volca Keys (Hard Synth) [1 MIDI DIN in + Audio Line Out]
    • Novation Launchpad/ Midi Keyboard (Hard Controller) [USB Host Midi i/o AND/OR 1 MIDI DIN i/o]
    • Focusrite Scarlet 6i/6o (Audio Interface) [4 Audio Line i/o + 2 SPDIF i/o + 1 MIDI DIN i/o]
    • Roland VT-3 (Real time Mic modulator) [ 1 Audio i/o ]
    • Condenser Mic

    What I want:

    To be able to plug it all in the most simple way, with dedicated audio channels for each hardware.

    What I've been eyeing:

    -iCA4+
    -iCM4+

    What I`m thinking / Questions:

    Can I use iCM4+ in conjunction with my already owned Focusrite Scarlet 6 i/o?
    Looks like iCM4+ would take care of all the MIDI sync/routing between hardware, software and controllers, while serving as an audio interface for the iPad and Macbook at the same time.
    The caveat is that it doesn't have Audio in and outs.
    Correct if I'm wrongbut,
    That could be resolved in a setup like this:

    Focusrite + iCM4+ [USB]->[USB] Macbook
    (Could ableton read the Audio in from Scarlet and iCM4+ at the same session?)
    iPad [USB] -> iCM4+
    Launchpad Pro [USB out] ->[USB] Macbook
    Volca Keys [Audio Out] -> [Audio In] OP-1
    OP-1 [Audio Out] -> [Audio in 1+2] Focusrite
    Condenser Mic -> Roland VT-3 -> [Audio 3] Focusrite
    iCM4+ [Midi DIN out] -> [Midi DIN in] Volca Keys
    iCM4+ [Midi DIN i/o] -> [Midi DIN i/o] Focusrite Scarlet
    Focusrite [Audio out 1/2] -> Audio Monitors

    Does that make sense?
    The worst part of it is to have 3 usb things on the Macbook, probably will have to use a hub.

    Now, there's the iCA4+ possibility, which to be frank, I can't really understand well.
    Would it be possible to retire the Focusrite from the setup while maintaining the MIDI connections and simplicity?
    If I had to guess, it would work like this:

    Macbook [USB] -> iCA4+ [USB]
    iPad [USB] -> iCA4+ [USB]
    OP-1 [Host USB] -> iCA4+ [USB MIDI Host]
    OP-1 [Audio out] - iCA4+ [Audio 3 + 4]
    Conderser Mic -> Roland VT-3 -> iCA4+ [Audio 1]
    Volca Keys [Audio out] -> OP-1 [Audio in}
    Launchpad Pro/ Midi Keyboard [USB Host out] -> Macbook [USB]
    iCA4+ [MIDI DIN out] -> Volca Keys [MIDI DIN in]

    Is that it, everything should work? Am I missing something? Do I need more MIDI connected?

    ** If I'm right about it, it seems that iCA4+ is simpler (for my setup at least), even freeing my Foscusrite so (IF) I can use it along side with iCA4+ on the macbook as another 4 Audio i/o and one more MIDI DIN i/o for other things.**

    Since I wrote it I tweaked the setup, but the main question is if it would work inside Ableton as an Agregatted device with a Focusrite I think.

    For anyone it might be interesting: I got a response from the official support email.

    Can I use iCM4+ in conjunction with my already owned Focusrite Scarlet 6 i/o?
    YES on Mac. It seems windows doesn't like aggregate devices as well.

    Your setup #1 would be possible.

    Is that it, everything should work? Am I missing something? Do I need more MIDI connected? Setup #2
    You are correct.
    You could setup everything you have with 1 iCA4+ and retired the Focusrite.
    I've recently sold one of my old Focusrite units recently because I had no need for it anymore with the functionality of an iCA4+.
