  • I bought the original Auxy, and IAPs (not soundpacks), but then they bought out another version (?), that was freee or something...and I got confused and gave up on it. From what I've read on here though the soundpack's aren't that inspiring.

Piano one is awesome and great for sketching, I'm guessing electric pianos is also good but I don't have it. I'm not really interested in the dance music sounds myself.

  • Vintage keys is good, I also like the future with the weird basses. Rac is nice too. If you like mallets, melodic percussion is pretty good but that's not my thing

  • Most of the sounds in them are good to usable, though at best you only get about 10 new presets per pack. The 7 Skies is probably my favorite so far.

  • I like the pianos IAP, but have not bought any of the others.

Think that deal for 5 packs for $18.99 is worth it then?

Its like a free pack then.

  • If you get a lot of use out of Auxy then yeah. I have all the packs except the melodic percussion (only tried it for a limited time with the beta). With layering and automation you can make all kinds of noise

I really haven't used it a ton, but figure to really know if it is what I want buy the packs and know for sure.

After having a quick browse through my old Auxy 'noodling on the bus' projects and losing an hour jamming out transitions, I can definitely confirm that Auxy is a bloody class app.

I must have 30 or so quality sounding projects in there and I literally had no idea!! Very easy to jam out cool shit when you leave the house, without even noticing!

  • It's definitely class. I go back and forth with it though. I can only get really into programming notes for so long before I want to grab something I can jam on. Really really wish they would add a playing surface. Last I heard, the developers were going to "explore" that idea

Much as the AB thing pissed me off and other aspects of their development also irritated (volume control changes etc), I have often wondered what I would end up with if I didn't touch any other apps for a month....probably true of a number of others as well....focus and simply putting the time in :)

Stick it on your phone's quick launch panel and watch the wicked grooves pile up.

Pretty good idea. Doing a lot of school run riding these days and was thinking of learning Serbo-croat, but that seems a bit redundant here in Austin, so maybe Auxy's the answer.... :)

I've basically deleted everything from my phone but AUXY, Figure, Blocs & KRFT.

That's certainly the way to go for me .. 10 min sessions here and that that add up to a lot of cumulative output over time. Trying to run a 'lite' version of my iPad setup on the go never got me more than an overheating phone and a drained battery.

Going to try it for a month. Will report back :)

  • @OscarSouth I'd be interested in hearing about your workflow between or with that iPhone set up if you wouldn't mind

  • edited August 2017

I've just redownloaded it, and it's all changed - and MIDI out has gone. Which I paid for as an extra IAP.

TBH I'm starting to hate these soundpack player apps grumble bark fuss bother & itch.

    Deleted again.

Ditto, would be so nice to have a way to actually play notes in real time.

I just drag a note around on the piano roll. It ain't exactly performance ready but I get my kicks when I'm waiting around and jamming out, all the same!

I don't try and do anything serious on phone. Just stick fun shit under my fingers and every now and then have a browse through what's built up on there for ideas to interpret or sample into our performance rig for UDAGAN. Rarely I'll work on synth patches or do some scoring or something if I'm working with a specific goal in mind.. Rarely ..

I guess if I have a 'workflow' it's just 'put creative apps where I'll click on them'.

This is everything on my phone:

  • @OscarSouth There's ALWAYS one more.... :) Never been much of a phone player, but I do like TriqTraq on it....

Haha, yea that's an app that I've been curious about for a long time but never bother checking out. I operate a very strict 'one in-one out' rule in my phone these days. Only the second page and those 4 front page 'stand alone' slots allowed. No folders!! (it will sit in there for 100 years and never be touched)

Like the policy. TriqTraq is very fluid and fun (and easy, it's me after all). Get a thing going nicely....and it's just, I dunno, different to almost anything else...worth a look.

  • Yeah TriqTraq is a weird one for me. I really like how performance oriented it is, and once I use it for a bit everything clicks. But I'm constantly forgetting all it's functions, the interface is definitely different from everything else out there.

  • @RustiK I only bought the piano one but it's great. I wish I could use these piano sounds in other apps!!
