Lightning digital AV adapter, alternatives?

Has anyone tried the official vs any alternatives and had experience using these?
Apple version is very expensive and doesn't always have great reviews.
Lots of alternatives out there but some may have issues.
Thanks.

  • No one here even got an official AV adapter?

  • What is that?

  • @mrufino1 it's the official HDMI connector for iOS devices. but it costs £49.
You can get cheaper versions but wondered about real world experiences.

I’ve got one. Never had any issues with it, but I only use it at work to connect my iPad to a projector for screen mirroring.

Thanks, yeah that's what I'm thinking of getting it for. A projector. I wonder if the £11 versions are really that bad. I have an Apple TV but it's not as mobile and convenient.

  • I work as a sound technician and have lots of people come with cheap adapters which in 70% work unreliably. Never had an original not work, also in my personal use (for years, including the old 32pintohdmi connectors...). My experience... .

  • For this, I had no choice but to get the real Apple AV adapter and it has a connection for the adapter to charge iPad or iPhone. I use it to watch Netflix directly from my iPhone as I finally got the fast T-Mobile plan. Works great! Sound and video via HDMI and it fills whole big screen with HD quality! Some apps look amazing on a big screen! Now that you got me going, gonna try BM3 on a big screen :o :# o:) <3

  • If only they worked with Audio interfaces connected too, unfortunately the hdmi hijacks the audio and there will be a large latency, although I guess it's less than using Airplay.
