iOS 11 - Features List for Music Production
https://aud-ios.com/2017/06/24/ios-11-features-list-for-music-production/
I know this has been written about here a bit, but iOS 11 may be coming on Wednesday, September 13th. It's no longer just an issue for Beta testers. Our iPads will no doubt be nagging us to upgrade very soon.
This is the first time I have held onto an old iPad, because I really don't want to lose my old apps...

Well, with my recent experience of having to return my iPad Pro after two months, and Apple only admitting that it 'now' meets spec when they returned it, I shall be giving IOS 11 a miss, until brave souls here assure me it won't mess up the apps I rely on.
What does “now meets spec” mean? Has there been a hardware revision?

The short answer is, I don't know. Three e-mails asking about this have been ignored.
My guess is that either they found something minor was not up to standard and made a change. Probably specific to my iPad, as opposed to general production, otherwise the story would've surely got out.
So what that amounts to is that there are some iPad 256gb 10.5 models out there with slightly wonky components, those manufactured early on. Models rolling off Apple production lines today are likely to be fine.
Midi out from AU sounds good. So many possibilities there...
Can I get in a request for an animated waveform displayed on the Launchpad please dev’s?
The latest iOS 11 beta has been rock solid for me, and a real speed boost from previous betas. But nothing really changes workflow-wise.
Are you running beta 9? I ask, because its release notes say that it can cause AudioBus to crash on launch (similar to a previous beta).
I'm going to, with carefree blindness, update my iPad Pro as soon as it is available.
Yet, I'm not especially upgrade happy, but I guess Apple is more focused on iPads than Mac OS these days.
My Mac still needs to run Mountain Lion because Pro Tools 10 is my workhorse. I guess it's ending up in a museum somewhere sometime... but why fix something that's doing what it's supposed to to.

Can you pm us, to let us know a bit more about what you'd like to see here? we're all ears.
Also, we've been keeping a close eye on iOS11 and so far everything looks just fine with Launchpad ,Blocs Wave and Groovebox. No problems anticipated.
There was some talk about midi over devices using just the charge cable, does that work?
That is one of the features I am most anxious about...
Well, Files app has potential to be the game changer for iOS production: in the latest public beta, we can already use Edit>Share>Other Apps to save audio files from regions in the timeline inside Files.app>On This iPad. But it still doesn’t let you create folders or save outside of pre-existing folders, so I have to save them inside the pre-existend Garageband folder. Still cannot drag and drop an audio file from Files.app directly to Auria’s timeline, but I’m confident this feature will come. Cheers!
You can long tap on an audio file in the Files app - then use the Share option to open it on eligible apps. 2 ways to create a new folder in Files on the iCloud Drive tab - just drag down from the top of the screen and the +Folder option appears - Y ou can also Long Tap on any blank area of the iCloud Drive tab in Files and a "New Folder" option appears.
One more - if you Favorite a folder it will show in Locations in the Files app.
If you Long tap a file/image etc in the Files app until it hovers, you can then tap other files and Stack them for multiple file copy/move/share etc
Ok, 1 more Files tip... Long tap the Files icon to view recent files:

Thanks for the tips! I was referring to the lack of ability (as of now) to create new local folders, or save the files locally outside an specific folder. The cloud based features were already there from the first beta, and I don’t really think about them as much as a game changer as the (hopefully) upcoming ability to manage our own files localy without the need for either a computer or Internet connection. Cheers!
