  • What the "tin" is trying to say is:

*** LABOR DAY SPECIAL OFFER ! Get BeatHawk free through September 6th ***

    Go get it!!!!!

I always smile to myself at the frantic enthusiasm that these kind of 'late over the line' threads are posted with.

The first one is always on the ball, calmly notifying us about the event. Four or seven hours later we'll get a couple of stragglers who appear to have been so excited to post the new old news that they didn't have the time to scan the front page and spot the discussion about it that's been going on all day.

That special kind of un-tempered passion which fuels such powerful enthusiasm is a beautiful thing.

Much appreciated, either way! I picked it up this morning!

    But why???

    Why is it free?

To hook you into buying sound packs. Which are excellent btw.

Where are these packs ? I've got a "Downloading In-App Content" message above a thin red line at the top of the screen, but nothing appears in the library column... and I don't see this thin red line advancing since I've installed Beathawk yesterday... Am I missing something ?

In the Track section to the right click on "Browser", they should be in there.

It's a little counter-intuitive, it had me stumped too.

Good quality though, tempted to buy a few packs. The AU implementation seems particularly well done to my untrained eyes and ears.

  • I was excited for 950 mb of wicked samples to play with, but inside are just two packs: 'EDM' and 'Urban'. Not really too useful for the music styles I'm working with so deleted. Shame how sampler apps tend to only come with samples from these generic genres.

I was tempted with the piano to host as an AU, but I quite like Lyra's piano and Thumbjam's Upright Piano is also lovely and suitable for performance, so I didn't need it enough to spend a gig of space and a tenner on.

For all the other packs that could be interesting to me, I have Kontakt libraries or Wav samples knocking around of the same kind of stuff.

Glad to have access to it in the future though, I case they release something I might like to resample.

  • I don't get this app... how do you change drum kits?

In the Track section, hit Browser and you can put a whole kit into the currently selected pad. Turn Pitch mode on and play the kit across the notes.

It sort of flows once you get the hang of it.
