iphone DAWs? will we ever get a practical one?

I have iphone and ipad. and I'm constantly frustrated that good DAWs don't really exist on an iphone. I use cubasis, beatmaker 3 on ipad and live them, but on iphone nothing really cuts it. I'd love to have cubasis on iphone. I have lots of great synths and effect apps , but no where to record there audio into and compose a complete song. Hopefully developers will soon make something.

Nope, it's not one of the famous ones

  • Audio Evolution Mobile is supposed to get iPhone support soonish.
Then we have NanoStudion 2 to look forward to as well :)

  • Multitrack daw works in a jam. Nice and simple, but not ideal for intense mixing

    Easy there.................................. ;)

  • How about N-Track Pro?

  • My current favorite iPhone solution is BeatHawk as sequencer, using internal sounds as well as core midi output to other apps. I load all into AB3, then put AUM or Multitrack DAW in the output if I ever come up with anything worth working on further.

I also keep coming back to Infinite Looper in the role of BeatHawk above. I haven't really settled on which I prefer - they're both great. Unless the interface for BM3 on iPhone is horrendous, that'll probably be the way I'll go once it's out.

You can import long pieces of audio into Gadget now (maybe record them in AUM and then transfer them over to Gadget). But it's pretty limited in terms of what you can do with the audio tracks once in Gadget.

If you want (real example) say 8 Gadget instruments and maybe a linear track of Animoog and a linear track of a ThumbJam instrument - I think it's workable. But anything else starts to get tricky in terms of importing audio tracks. Not impossible - but fiddly.

  • How about these apps (for at least audio - I NEED midi recording and editing personally):

Ferrite has multi tracks and FX
    Multitrack DAW
    Looperverse

  • do any of the iphone DAWs have built in Convolution reverb?

  • edited November 2017

You mean nano studio 2? Your allowed to mention it..

I wouldn’t hold your breath about BM3 for iPhone, they will never get rid of the iPad bugs lol

    Gadget is not a daw

  • GarageBand is ok!

Just be patient with it, it works for the patient and wise lol

  • It's such a pain to deal with limited screen real estate especially when it comes to complex applications. Couple that with reduced acceptance from users to pay even a moderate price like 20 bucks for an app on the iPhone and a tiny market for it. I'm not surprised that there are very few iPhone DAWs.
