The New York City 54 by Doug & Colin (Video Made With LumaFusion)

So here is a finished track and video from our next album which is called "Memories Move Forward" It's a Prog/Funk/Disco sort of thing.

And you can't have an album dedicated to Disco and Funk without a nod to the outrageous Disco Club from the seventies called Studio 54

I visited Studio 54, in the late 70's, and it sounded just like this, albeit with words. :) If any of us had LumaFusion, or any of this stuff back then....

BTW, musically, this is some of your best work, Doug & Colin. I trust you we're wearing your silver trousers when you made this?

Hello, like this song. What is the Rhodessound made of? Motif? Sorry this reminds me more of steely dan than of a typical disco tune. Congrats!
    Brilliant!

Hey man I'll take the Steely Dan reference, the Rhodes is Neo Soul Keys Studio

  • Looking foward to your and Donald fagens new album ;-) Don' t how to make the nks piano sound as good as yours. Although sampled the MkI and MkV last night for my motif to play them live cause the app is too unstable.

  • Great music Doug.

I'm almost feeling Bianca Jagger on my lap, while Andy Warhol feeds me coke
Oh! Here comes Truman Capote with his white scarf  he's going over to the waitress boys in shorts...

    Thanx for sharing

I did play around with the Sound a lot before I was happy, it's actually too different sounds, the verse and chorus were pretty clean with lots of added tine and not a lot of the mechanical effects, but also some delay and reverb, then the bridge bit there was a lot of delay and some distortion too, I should have saved the presets..lol..but I never do, record the songs and then move on, it's actually not that great a sound when you take every off it, the effects make it

  • Really well done gentleman. Thank you!

  • Really nice work. I hear a bit of Dan in there too, which is particularly good to hear this week. Lovely slide on the strings - is that a Beathawk sample?

No the strings were done in Reason

  • Thanks for the comments, guys! Honoured by the Steely Dan comparison!

On my first ever late 70's US trip, I almost bumped into a colourful fellow in NYC. He had an electric pink suit, huge Afro and big round sunglasses. I wanted to laugh, but was too scared he!d shoot me. So, stepped aside, sharpish.

  • Rhodes -> <3 !!! Great track Doug!

  • Little bit of J.J. Cale in there maybe as well....
