Minimal production
I've been trying to narrow down some of my favorite apps so I can create a limited but awesome project. I think I only want to use 2 synths and a drum machine. Maybe 2. I'm trying to think what two synths would compliment each other well but also cover the most ground. I'm thinking phasemaker and Zeeon would be fun. And maybe using MV08, elastic drums or like Ruismaker to keep it all AU. What would you guys use?

I think those are all really good choices. I might use DRC instead of Zeeon, but it's a tough call - both sound excellent and cover a great deal of territory with a great deal of overlap (but also different enough).
This!
I would also go with DRC instead of Zeeon, but as you say, it is a tough call.
Good plan. If you plan to run multiple instances of a synth app, CPU resources might be a deciding factor.
I dunno how your entire setup is gonna be, but considering phasemaker already has a good sequencer, I suggest to go with DRC, which has an awesome chord player. But again, it depends on if you wanna play some live improvised notes.
When did Phasemaker get a sequencer? I know the other Brambos apps have them, but I've never seen it in PM (and I use it a fair amount). Where in the UI is this Easter egg?
I had forgotten about DRC's chord player, which is indeed great. I think that would tip the scale for me.
Wow, I've never even heard of DRC until now! I guess I'll have to check it out... I just want to go with a few very simple but deep apps and learn them well. Other candidates for me were Poison, SynthScaper or even seeing what I could make with just geoshred! It's so tough to pick but I wanna stick to something so I can learn a bit more about certain types of synthesis as well
I really like the PM idea though, FM synthesis sounds like a blast to me lol
Ditto on sequencer. Need to know where it's hiding because I want to meet it.
Yep, and Phasemaker is terrific.
If you're going to play the artificial limitations game to stimulate your creativity (which is a great game), why limit yourself to good applications? Why not choose the worst two apps in your arsenal and see what you can make of them? It would be like one of those cooking show competitions on cable TV where you have to make a delicious dessert out of a Subway sandwich and an ostrich egg.
Pardon me. I made an error thinking it was Ripplemaker. I also assumed all the Bram apps had sequencers though. Anyway, pardon the blunder.
With multiple instance AUs I'd personally go:
Ruismaker (drums)
Viking (bass)
Lorretz (all other synthy stuff)
Maybe iDensity for some sample texture stuff
All iPhone. All fairly low on processor.
I think you could go a long way with that.
Maybe hosted in AUM and driven with Infinite Looper. Or run from KFT. But there's not really an iPhone DAW option. (Edit: I guess you could host in GarageBand - but no automation).
(I know you didn't specify iPhone as a limitation - but yer know...)
No problem - I thought you had uncovered a secret feature!
