Air 1 battery replacement
My air 1 hasn't been holding a charge for very long for some time now. Today I sent it in for replacement. My understanding is that I will probably get a refurbished model in return. Cost is about $105 with shipping. Should be about 10 days, less if I'm lucky.
I miss it already.

My iPad Air still holds a charge for a respectable amount of time. My iPhone 6 on the other hand can go dead at seemingly random times (over 50% battery then dies). Usually it's fine but the random coma is so annoying! So new phone for me in a few weeks and hopefully new iPad before the end of the year.
My girlfriend is on a short trip and she took the Air so I'm using my old iPad 2. Glad I kept it instead of cashing it in.
I empathize. Hopefully your refurb is aces.
@Crawlingwind just wondering: with your iPad Air not being to hold a charge well; was it still capable of use when the battery was pretty much depleted but yet plugged into the wall charger?
yes, it worked while plugged in.
Mmm, the genius of Apple, once upon a time someone invented a flap and screws, you opened it and removed/inserted a battery.
I bought a cheap (€150) Lenovo 10" Android tablet for casual surfing duties etc, to save my Air from being used for everything. Full HD screen and very decent specs for the price. In typical Lenovo fashion, it obviously called home reporting its location when activated. I'm not sure why they keep doing that, they've been in legal troubles over spyware on laptops in the US. Oh and there were some hidden Russian and Chinese apps, most likely content only activated for units shipping to those locations (while EU have the regular stuff). But whatever, it's a small price to pay for keeping Camel Audios Alchemy synth alive a bit longer:-)
I use my Air for pretty much everything. Maybe that's not such a good idea...
So... spend a few hundred bucks on a second device to avoid spending $100 on a battery replacement every four to six years?
Err, no
