OT: CME Xkey keyboards: design issue but great service
I thought I would pass along this warning to anybody using the CME Xkey MIDI controllers.
The bad news: the micro-USB port is too close to the keyboard housing to accommodate a typical cable. Trying to insert a standard cable, as I did, risks damaging the USB port, making an almost-new keyboard unusable. (They ship with a special cable with a slimmer profile). This happened to me and I was pretty annoyed.
The good news: I explained my situation to the support organization here in California, and they offered to replace my keyboard even after the warranty had expired (after I explained that I had barely used it).
I think that was pretty solid behavior for a small company which I wanted to pass along. Other than the USB port issue, I like the keyboard and would now consider buying another one someday with Bluetooth.

Damn. Good to know. I've had my eye on this guy.
Yeah this happened to me having bought a cme Xkey 25 2nd hand without the original cable. They couldn't offer to replace mine so I took it apart to have a look. Should probably get that listed as 'parts' on eBay now.
Did purchase a 37key BT version after which is lovely. Especially with the correct cable! (for charging)
This cable from monoprice (all lengths) fits in the narrow space of the CME XKey. And you can of course use it on the Bluetooth model as well for better latency.

next to the original cable I found another cable where I only had to cut away 1mm of plastic. It's a bit problematic, the micro USB port on the Xkey, especially if you don't have the original cable.
Mine ended up in the bin because the cable broke off inside the unit.
Good find. Now all I need is to find a UK distributer.
Thank you, they could have sold me extra cables , but they are so hard to come by!
I have the USB 25 with 2 regrets:
1) wish I'd gotten the longer one
2) wish I'd waited for the bluetooth version
Otherwise I have been very happy with it as a "go anywhere" keyboard.
There are downsides to the Bluetooth version, it doesn't have the sustain or expression pedal inputs.
