Vocals Sound Mono Panned Left in AB3 Need help...

Guys I was recording vocals into my Beringher UCA 202 unit and of course it was mono left channel to the iPad but why doesn't the AB3 mixer allow the sound to mix into both sides of the headphones with the Pan controller in the AB3 mixer? What do I need to do?

Comments

  • Do you get no sound in the right channel when you pan right?

I don't have your setup, but have you tried adding an effect with a stereo output?

  • Yeah hanks for your input. I get no sound from the mic when panned right only panned left and if pan is center only left side else. I'll try sending Output to Cubasis and see. When I recorded my video I went straight out to my UCA 202 from AB3 and into the Line6 sonic port Vox line in input which fed my iPhone.

  • Thanks bro no worries. Yeah I guess AB3 just keeps everything as it comes in and doesn't sum to mono but yeah I remember being able to do that before. I think I was using my desktop studio then. Just that I haven't recorded in a while and forgot.

Reason I was recording with two interfaces was that my preamp is hardware and my mic is XLR so I had to send that into the UCA202 since it has two inputs. Then in AB3 I can select either of the 2 ins to record. But then to send that to the iPhone I needed to use he Sonic port vx which has Aux input stereo. The iPhone was recording the video and audio in realtime. The following video is the one I was making and you can hear my vocals only on left channel. I guess I should have tried it with Cubasis . But was in a hurry and tired already so I'll try it next time.

  • Oh reason I had to use vs port on iPhone was that I needed to play external Midi keyboard and couldn't do that with vx port.

  • Thanks!

Yeah I thought about that but the main thing that confused me was that I had forgotten how to hook things up since I had recently put all my old recording hardware away. I think on my next vid, I'm going to use Navichord only and not use my external midi keyboard. This way, I'll use my Sonic port VX's built in mic and use the headphones out of it and send that to the UCA202 unit connected to my iPhone.

That's why I appreciate Doug, Haq and The Audiodabbler cause I know how hard it is to record videos.

Hey, nice playing and very cool one man band patch.
Yeah, I see now. Your setup for music+video making looks tough to manage. Maybe in that particular case you could have used a Y-adapter from your mic preamp to the UCA202. But it looks like you have other options.
