MEDICAL: Do you suffer from A.J.S.?
I suffer from an incurable illness.
It is progressive and potentially fatal to my music career.
AJS (A.J.S.)
-
Ambient Jam Syndrome.
Where i all starts out with the most focused and well thought out intentions.
Then slowly your session devolves into an array of multiple apps and effects slowly wading its way into the abyss of AMBIENT JAM SYNDROME.........
Where there is no ending.
Only more music. More synths. More drums.
More effects. More samples. More loops.
One more app, it won't crash.
Freeze those. Free up space.
Next thing I am 30 tracks deep into a jam that Greg Allman himself would be proud of.
Beware this black hole.
Be careful.
Practice safe synth interactions. Don't stick a loop in unless you are prepared to bare the responsibility of what that loop brings with it.
Thank you for your time.
All the best.

I've heard there is a 12 step program for this sort of thing, so I went for one of these but it only made things worse

CBT might help. Failing that IOSRP (removal procedure) cures that for sure.
Also: get a controller and map all the controls to mute and solo and use those with gusto.
Good luck, it is a painful condition, especially to others, if they're around.
Haha, I think that 90% of my live performance action is just muting and unmuting the 8 'rings' of patterning from a controller. You barely even need to have more than one pattern prepped in addition to the mutes, once you get a few extra musical elements going on. I feel bad that I've got five perfect buttons for different patterns available and I rarely use more than one, or two tops.
To Be Serious for a brief moment:
I actually have LaunchControl XL dedicated to Patterning as for this exact thing.
I like Patterning as much for drums AND for just sequencing 1 shot samples besides drums. Not many other apps that allow such control and parameter manipulation as Patterninig.
And do appreciate others sense of humor BTW
Thank god, I was born with "control alt delete" in the back of my neck, and reset nipples.
Are you the "One"?
Sounds like I've been pulling on the wrong emergency lever.
According to my wife, and cats, I guess I am
A jigantic schlong? Well, yes, but it's a strange question lol
Where in the thread was a schlong comment solicited? LOL
ALS is my goal

Every now and then, I pick up my acoustic guitar, and just play it. No iPad, microphone, effects, nothing. ::nods::
An hour later, I have futzed and putzed my way around every corner of e minor, have recorded nothing, and achieved little more. It's call ANS: ambient noodling syndrome.
But it makes me happy.
Hahaha u achieved enjoyment.....thats what its all about
This sounds interesting - Any chance there is a video showing this pairing, so I can understand better how you are using this combination?
Is "12 step program" a new sequenser app!?

AJS is a serious condition...
I've found the "12 Step Program" doesn't help because of a desire for a "16 Step" meeting.
When attempting recovery, you may experience withdrawal effects due to the lack of MIDI flow in your body.
Recovering Jamaholics are urged to rid themselves of all ios devices and resort to using an Android 2.3 with a broken headphone jack. They can't even use an internet browser, for the potential to check Audiobus forums every free minute they have, to see the latest greatest thing... This single action alone can result in a dangerous relapse of AJS in the suffering addict, sending them into a downward spiral of arps, slices, automations, appstore checks and unchecked spending of mortgage money...Even worse they may become more obsessed with obsessing over workflow potentials than actually performing them.
AJS IS A DISEASE...
Consider an Intervention today for suffering family or friends...
If Greg Allman would be proud of it, then there's no worry. It's benign
I know that syndrome well. And enjoy it.
However, at some point those electronic sirens start singing their sweet sweet song...
I sometimes don't recognize my self of my music.
Itsso...........................................I dunno ..........anymore
That was my mistake, the SQ10 is a 12 step sequencer, not a 12 step program(mer)...
I dunno, it was late and I should have been asleep
Rust(i)k, keep on trucking, the mute/solo is indeed your friend. Just keep the repetition/variation of loops or phrases interesting. Repetition variation repetition variation variation repetition for example
