and the handles where always colliding with these events in my book...

Yes - happened to me too - but scrolling a bit up- or downwards solved this. I think every way of handling very small events on a touch-screen has flaws.

But I've just tried the tip with holding a note-attribute button and repositon/resize a small event in cubasis and it worked very well. Did not know that this is possible in such a way. So it is possible to mark one or more notes, hold the "attribute"-button (length, position and so on...) and dragging on a position where the screen is empty. So - this solves my main problem with the midi-editor in cubasis. And it was always there.

edit: But despite of that I try another run with MTS - used it not much since the last update. And it is optimized for the big pro. I wish steinberg would make more use of the additional screen-space on this models. Otherwise cubasis is a great DAW with the most intuitive interface, imho.

@TheMediocritist: Many thanks for the great advice.

edit2: I still think the way midi editing like it was realized first within Nanostudio is the best way to manage small events, particularly on smaller devices, like phones. I know now that more or less the same is possible in cubasis but it involves two hands and doesn't brings less steps than in NS. The handles can be positioned outside of the editor, so they can't get in the way.

Anyways - I'm pleased to see that it is possible to manipulate events in cubasis without obscuring them, or nearby grid-fields.

For NS2 I'm still hoping that the traditional (NS1-like) way of editing notes and parts will still be there - at least as an option.

No ram upgrades for air, and it has an ssd already, but that is easy to upgrade at least, I used an m2 adapter so an m2 size can work on the air, it works great.

Thanks for the tip with the adapter - but my concern isn't to few ssd-space but the fact that my air has only 4 GB of RAM. The minimum specs for logic are 4 GB. So - I think I would fast seeing a wall or the beachball spinning with a few more tracks.

edit.: Thanks to the member, who mentioned reaper - I've tried it, but couldn't find my way into it. I have cubase elements on my air and it makes my device way to noisy. With a few plugins it felt also underpowered. My current Air 2 and 12,9" Pro (2015) are feeling ahead of my Macbook - and in the end I've bought the Pro first and foremost for sequencing but am struggling to find the right sequencer.

Correct, I was just making the point that the ram is not upgradeable, only the ssd. It was mentioned earlier in the thread that an ssd would help, but the air from that year has one already

With that being said, if Cubase elements and a few plugins is killing that machine, they're may be something else at play. I can push reaper pretty hard, mixbus works differently so is already fairly high cpu but as long as I'm not too crazy with plugins it works. Eq and comp already on every channel and taking up the dsp whether engaged or not, so fairly little use of that type of plugin.

I didn't buy it with the intention of doing music, but after using mixbus again and being reminded of how good it sounds, as well as version 4 being quite good, I got hooked on using my mac again for mixing. And being the 11" version, it's no less convenient than iPad to carry or turn on (never had an ssd before, can't believe the difference!).

But I'm not trying to convert anyone, it's all good as long as it makes music, I still use ios plenty.
