Well in the past @AQ808 has made some pretty insightful comments so I'm not inclined to dismiss his words, but respectfully disagree on some points.
@jesse_ohio Correct, or one more way could be free with a lot of IAPs including an "Everything" IAP which is basically the equivalent of a Pro version. I'm not sure yet whether the AUFX approach is working revenue-wise so that remains to be seen. For me something like that would mean that instead of adding electric / nylon / 12-string guitars as IAPs in guitarism I release completely new apps for each of those. Would people really prefer that? Personally as a user I wouldn't, but I'd love to hear other thoughts The BM2 / BM3 approach is perhaps good, I can see that making sense for 'feature' level changes but I don't see e.g. JamUp offering a JamUp 2 which has all amps unlocked.
@mmp No offense taken here! In general I don't really get offended at stuff people say. Most of the times they're expressing a sincere opinion and it's more useful for me to talk to them, understand where they're coming from and why they're thinking what they're thinking, so I can adapt my product design / pricing / marketing to better fit their needs. If I just get offended and huff and puff that doesn't help anyone. Of course if they're intentionally trying to offend me I don't want to give them that satisfaction anyway
@busker You're 100% correct there. I wonder though if the music app market will ever become crowded. It doesn't really make enough money for big players to rush in, not like the games space. IK Multimedia is pretty invested in iOS but they seem to need to do some pretty heavy-handed in-app (and out-of-app) marketing to make that work for them. Native Instruments seems to be hesitant to go all-in despite having done 2 apps already. I'm curious whether Sugar Bytes is happy with its recent iOS investment, their apps have been mostly positively received. Same for Steinberg.

@mgmg4871 looks like I need to make my IAP description clearer!
