Cubasis seems like its not quite there yet, especially for the price they're asking for it. It still seems to be missing a lot featurewise in comparison to BM2.
I like BM2 because it has a sampler, automation, sidechain compression, editable sends, i/o bus routing in the mixer, sample slicing, timestretch, pitch-shift, extensive MIDI and Audiobus support, and reliable clock sync.
@busker,it was more of a general point...The idea of the traditional DAW...does it need to follow that because thats how its done on a desktop...
Samples take up space, there's no getting away from it,but if they are,I'd like them to sound better.
For initial ideas, yes,Cubasis instruments are ok.Personally,i find I only ever use the grand piano tho.All the others are a bit flat, uninspiring and it takes longer tweaking effects to get them to sound 'real',then it does to switch to ifretless ect.
The drum sounds,(most),not great, but the patterns, fine if used to trigger drum jam/funkbox kits.
The most recent 'daw' to join the bus ,(studio 2) offers up to 96 tracks of audio and is less then 10mbs in size.
Cubasis isn't as bad as bm2 for sample hogging and I think most of the other daws are again, only half the size of these two.
IAA lets us use our instrument apps like plug ins now so I'm seeing my ipad as my daw.but space is limited so if there's anything on there that I have no use for,I'd like it to go.
Edit..but I agree with you and work the same way.Edit in midi then record to audio..
Speaking of Studio 2, has anybody tried it yet?
No, but I've tried their other products, wasn't really anything that stuck with me. And let's just say that you shouldn't probably focus on the nr 96 (it's just a really lame try at a sales pitch, nothing else). Also, they do change the prices on their apps all over the place all the time, so don't be surprised if this goes on a $0.99 sale tomorrow.
I don't think I could use up 96 tracks if I tried. Just curious to see if it had something to offer than none of the other DAWs do. Apart from the YouTube thing, which doesn't interest me, it doesn't seem like it.
I know,I'm not @ChrisG.
It would be nice to get rid of samples and trim down on the unwanted bits or a least to have the option.
I'd be happy with one decent instrument in each set rather that 4-6 not so great ones.
I was given a promo code for Studio 2. I'll say its a work in progress, but has great potential. The Dev is working on some new features that will make it much more useful. I do think the release was premature.
BM2 > Cubasis for what I use it for anyway (ie. not losing a bunch of work, clock sync, etc). We're all little snowflakes though.
I can't see some apps in inter-app like sunrizer and isem
Nave and +z3ta works
Someone can help me?
It's a weird glitch from when they implemented IAA in BM2- I guess sunrizer was going to go IAA but never did

ha...you mean like 500mb of samples?
just out of curiosity, has anyone requested the ability to delete the samples and has intua responded about making this possible anywhere?
I see people talking about it all of the time and it just strikes me as peculiar for this not to be made possible through all of these updates!
Yes, @kobamoto, it's been requested often on their forum. It appears that the consensus is that this functionality will be a part of the next release from them. That's assumed to be called Beatmaker 3 and will be a new purchase.
One of the devs was quoted in the new BM thread that they want to give people the option to not download the factory samples if they don't want to.
i see, ok well looking forward to that then.
my favorite feature right now of beatmakers is that you don't have to load up a sample to audition it. I wish every sampler or sample based beatmachine or sampler like app would allow sample browsing and auditioning like this. it's such a pain to have to load up the sample first, then listen to it and decide if you want to use it, and if not delete it and move on to another..... beatmaker really got it right with their method and every other developer should copy it.
