Elastic Fx?
Most of the issues are worked out w this beta and new file wav management and bunch of other improvements.
In Elastic FX?
Or FluxFX?
I don't have flux but that matrix in the pro version looks intriguing. Elastic fx is cool but LiveFx sounds better.
Sorry it has happened to me recently that I'd take one app for another. Need to focus.
This time I mistook flux fx for live fx which was basically a dot for dot copy of Korg's kaoss pad quad. Curiously it was developed by the same people ELEPHANT CANDY who then likely got hired by Belew to code Flux, which likely used some of LiveFx code.
Anyway...
LiveFx = abandonware
FluxFx = abandonware
The saga continues...
just pile up abandoned software on a solid, but outdated iPad... will give you years of undisturbed, continued use.
It really works - as my Powermac b/w from 1999 proves every day
I still use FLUX all the time. There is nothing that does looping like it.
If Looperverse wasn't also abandoned, the two together would give you EDP and Electrix Repeater functionality and more...
Such a waste.
Yes, this is all true, but try to say this to peeps who have new machines with new iOS that want to use this. Anyhow...impermanence rules the world.
Momento mori, carpe diem etc..
Its still working for me in Aum on an Air2
Its always been touchy with the graphics andsequencer and ott presets etc
I think its very much a matter of creating ones own presets and not pushing the cpu too much.
I will try it on an ipad 6 next.
is there anything that stands out with the other effects in FLUX?
since you brought up the EDP, anything reminiscent of other hardware?
The FX are ok. Not the greatest and not the worst...But what makes them all interesting/valid is the X/Y control and motion sequencing. It's kind of hard to put into words or compare to hardware with some Eurorack FX being the closest thing you could compare it to.
It came in with great ideas but didn't manage to stick into the business mainly by lack of dedication. This is one of these apps with good potential but no real mean to settle along. So long, Flux:Fx.
This was very disappointing, i remember when Adrian Belew was posting about this all the time on Facebook during their development. Ive watched every video and when I first bought an iPad pro last year this was the first app I purchased, only to find out that the app is nearly worthless. I even tried messaging their customer support and it gave me a generic response that their inbox was full and they were unable to even receive my issue. What a shame, because I use my iPad effects primarily for use with my guitar / bass guitar in a live setting, so this would have been PERFECT. just too buggy and crashes alllllllll the time
I also believe that the app store should have a 'report abandonware' type of option. I suppose I could just report the app but there should be an option to report apps that are no longer supported. Especially at $18
It’s a shame about this app. It was ahead of its time when it was released, too powerful for the devices at the time.
Now the devices have the power, but the app has been abandoned.
I wonder if Mr. Belew still uses this app in his live shows, or if he has abandoned it as well.
is that a lark?
It's abandoned but it still works well for the most part. If you host it in GB it rarely if ever crashes.
