  • Oohhh yeah!!!

  • Can’t see it in UK Store, yet.

  • App link please?

  • Not seeing it in the US store as of yet...if @Harro is teasing us I will arrange for the grumpy dogs to be sent round forthwith :)

  • Downloaded it on both my devices. Quality!!

No 'extra treats' but FLUX:FX has always been one of the most fully formed apps on the platform. Bravo! They did it!

Thrilled to hear this. I thought it was a goner.....

  • I may finally buy this thing now. Always wanted it, but the lack of support was not reassuring.

Found it. $24 CAD. Hmmm, gonna need to pause on this one.

Can't stand it myself, though the 'play' version is alright.

It has fans on here, but all a bit lo-fi and crackly for my kidneys.

same boat here. crashy for me on my ipad and eats alot of CPU. I try to use the play version sometimes on my iphone - but even though there are dozens and dozens of presets I never seem to find anything that worthwhile.

    For any Flux contemplators:

I’d be fairly confident in saying that anyone who plays an instrument to a high level will find FLUX:FX very intuitive and creative. It’s much (much) more geared towards performers than ‘tweakheads’.

Same as any multi effects though, while it has its own usable modules I’d still want to run dedicated distortions and reverbs to compliment it. It’s also intended not intended for ‘light’ tweaking!! Don’t expect what comes out to sound like what goes in!

(Oh, and completely disregard the useless and over the top built in presets)

Yeah, so where's that fancy gif of the flying beast bouncing off the glass now, eh?

That's what I'm looking for, so thanks for the heads up.

Which distortions would you run with it?

I rarely use presets so this doesn't bother me.

Maybe that's the key, because going through the presets I never found anything particularly musical in there, just glitch and destruction.

Erm, I like to think I'm pretty competent at guitar after 40 years of playing the thing, and with a couple of thousand gigs under my belt.

I don't like it because the presets do absolutely nothing for me whatsoever - some seem to almost cut the sound out completely, others degrade it to white noise. Yes, you can create your own patches and build things up from scratch, but even then I've found the quality to be lacking - give me Turnado or pretty much any of the other standalone FX apps any day.

Ironically I'm a big fan of Adrian Belew, but can't hear any of his sounds in this thing.

Yeah, the CPU usage is ridiculous, so I installed the Play version on my iPad, which seems much more efficient.

Yeah, saw him play with Bowie.

As for the app, it still isn’t showing up in my App Store Updates, and to be honest, it’s long been relegated to a curiosity. I don’t think I’ve ever used anything I tried with it in something finished. Lots of promise, poor substance.

Software ones that I like include the distortions in Wow Filterbox and also AUM’s Saturation effect. I use a few hardware units with distortion too:

Yea I highly recommend to entirely disregard the presets. I just treat it as a bunch of ‘stomp boxes’, a global XY pad and a really immediate and performative patch/bank system.

By the way, EVERYTHING inside the app has presets including the step sequencer and the individual effects units. The individual unit effect presets are MUCH MUCH MUCH more usable than the general ‘overarching’ presets. Mixing, matching and tweaking those is a much more effective method of achieving usable results!

I’ve not had any CPU or stability issues with it personally but I don’t touch the presets. Might be related to how over the top crazy they are. I do reckon Turnado (which is the only comparable FX app that I’ve used personally) is a bit more lean, but I find FLUX:FX’s workflow a lot more well designed for creativity and performance.

  • Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. YES!

  • I would love this app if it worked well. In my Air 1 it will often freeze for short bits or the sound will get messed up.
