Based on what's going on with the gate, the sound of the synth, and the sound of the envelope change, this could very well be a Minilogue. I honestly think it is.
The Minilogue..thanks will have to check out some vids on that one.
I say that because it sounds like the lfo is tempo synced but step sequenced; the Minilogue sequencer allows for recording CC changes real time on the sequencer . I'm sure a lot of other things do this as well, but this particular sound just struck me as something I've run across hundreds of times in making Minilogue patches. Either way, it would be very easy to recreate with one.
(Note: this is not an endorsement of the Minilogue. It is capable for its price, but gun to head I wouldn't recommend it. I honestly just use it as my MIDI keyboard and prefer several iOS synths over it.)
Yes, it sounds sequenced to me, rather than complex lfo business. Not that it can’t be done that way, but I think you can achieve the same effect punching in notes and tweaking the amp envelope of any accordion-sounding patch (short-medium attack, short decay, zero sustain). You can do it!
I also thought it sounded a bit like an impossible accordion...thanks for the specifics. I like the sound as it's rhythmic whilst leaving room for a vocal.
Cheers...so much to learn with synths and midi, but guys sharing their knowledge on here really helps.
Lfo, on the filter cutoff. Lfo speed is being modulated. Probably with a mod wheel as it's playing. The second half the cutoff of the filter is lowered a bit
There are different ways to achieve this kind of sound. Modulate the amplitude, filter cutoff, envelopes etc.
Every iOS synth should be able to do it
If anyone has the chops to reproduce this technique, I'd be interested to hear the results.
Personally, I'm impressed by the rhythm and groove of the technique over the more obvious filter tweaking.
Edit: I just tweeted 20 year old Chris Martines in regard this thread...he's the 'producer' not sure if he is the synth guy also.
