Novation Jam: Video
Howdy all,
I have my first performance type video up on YouTube. The making of the video was inspired by Doug Woods @thesoundtestroom and he likes it (yay!). In the vid, I'm using a Novation LaunchKey Mini keyboard to control both the LaunchPad and LuanchKey Synth apps.
Check it out if you have four minutes or so...

Very cool. Amazing how much you can do with a small set up. How much is improv, and how much is carefully planned and arranged?
Thank you Rick. I love being outside and the setup is so simple. I hope to do more like this when it cools off around here (Texas).
Carefully planned? Not really, but maybe sort of...? I'd been messing around with the LaunchPad setup for a half an hour, so I had a good idea of which sounds I wanted to use. Then I played around with the LaunchKey app until I found a suitable sound and then just jammed for a while before I took it outside and setup the iPhone camera.
For the video, I had started and stoped four or five times but discarded all of those takes. I used the final take of the day, and of course, by that time I had a better feel for an arrangement that I liked. Upon reflection I would have to say it was 1/2 improv built upon 1/2 a plan (LOL).
Mad outside man! Worry not, another month or two and we can get the long trousers out for a bit. Interesting to watch your process. What did you use for the video end?
@JohnnyGoodyear - Hey man, yes can't hardly wait for some mild temps. Oh, I watched your new video this morning...quite disturbing yet beautiful on many levels; well done.
My process was: set up iPhone on my tripod and found a good position that showed mostly the hardware and my disembodied hands without too much reflection of my ugly mug. I used the ProCam app, found good settings and locked in the focus and the exposure, then just hit record.
The extra stuff (titles, and etc) were added in LumaFusion which I just bought. This was the first and so far only work I've done in Luma, but man, I am so impressed -- all the hype for the app is well deserved, IMHO.
