Iceworks Synths on Offer - which one to get?

There seem to be a few on offer - 25% off - but which to get?

Laplace, Mersenne, Lorentz, Redshrike or Xenon?

Maybe the question should be which to avoid?

Comments

  • Of those, i own Lorentz, Laplace, Redshrike and Xenon

Xenon is a groovebox thing and no AU
Laplace is a specialized sound, i recommend checking some videos to see if it suits you

Lorentz and Redshrike are both excellent

  • There's another thread around here from a few months ago that covers exactly this ground. I don't know if you can find it, but everything you've asked is covered in detail there.

  • They’re on offer - get them all!!

  • I don't have Xenon or Mersenne, but I don't think there's a bad one in the bunch. I like Laplace, but it's probably not the best choice if you're looking for presets. iceWorks have been developing synth apps since the early days of iOS. They know their stuff.

  • It's here
    https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/20562/which-iceworks-synth-to-try-first

Im looking to get either redshrike or lorentz myself

  • Love the iceworks synths! The weirder the better. I use Laplace the most, Mersenne second. Been getting into Mersenne recently, for the intended purpose, "tuned percussion", and using it with a looper, to add tuned sounds to percussion loops. Sort of a poor man's Harry Partch.

  • Thanks for all the replies and for the link to the older thread!
I’m leaning towards Redshrike (I recall Doug’s review) and Lorentz.

Mersenne is the best on iOS for this use case. I use it all the time and it never lets me down!

  • Mersenne in combination with BM 3 to sample, layer and add ADSR is sublime!

  • If you already have Mood, Poison-202, or any other good general purpose Synth get Mersenne!!! It is wonderful and very different sounding.

  • Mersenne is really awesome. That was my first iceworks synth. Love it. Very unique sounding if that's your cup of tea

  • Cassini is still the one for me. Needs to get the update treatment too.

  • Mersenne and Redshrike

  • I honestly cant narrow it down to just one. If I were told I could only keep 20 of my iOS synths 5 would be IceGear. (Adding Cassini to Mersenne, Laplace, Lorentz and Redshrike).

Having said that I use Mersenne the most. I have one preset I made in Mersenne that ends up in almost all my stuff, that I would be hard pressed to recreate in any other synth.

  • You guys have sold me on Mersenne, but watching the demo video again, I remember why I passed. I got a holiday music vibe.

  • CASSINI is the one. It’s massively underrated.
A must in any synth collection. The arpeggiator is pure marvellously tremendous marvellousness

  • Cassini and Xenon are not on sale.

I love Cassini but unless it gets the AU treatment, it sees little use sadly
