  • I think IKM's SampleTank or their new Syntronik app is the closest you'll find.

  • thx dude,i`ll going to buy and try :) ~

  • So, here’s my take. A lot of apps with a lot of sounds are often going to be workstations rather than romplers. However...

-Sampletank - Most variety of sounds, but is also very expensive accumulatively speaking. (For instance, in order to unlock some sounds, you need to buy one of IK’s hardware controllers). However, it’s definitely worth it! It’s currently IAA only, but IK said all apps will eventually get an AU update. ;) Syntronik is also worth the investment, but that rompler is synth-only. Sampletank is universal. Syntronik is not.

-Beathawk - This one might be marketed as a beatmaking app, but it can also function as an AU within other host apps. It may not have as much of a variety in the synth sound department, but other sounds more than make up for it (lots of extremely realistic world sounds, orchestral sounds, etc). Not only that, but it was the first app to have realtime time stretching (where Beatmaker 3 was the second app to have it). SO, technically, you can record the sound of a synth lead into AudioShare, and then use iCloud import within Beathawk to import said lead. You can sample lots of other things within it. Also, if something’s wrong with the app or any of the packs, UVI has some of the best customer support you’d ever wish to find in the iOS music app realm. Beathawk is Universal.

-iSymphonic Orchestra - For every orchestral sound you need. This one will also run your bank account pretty dry, but the quality of orchestral samples you get are extremely top notch. iSymphonic is universal and can run as an AU.

-Swarplug - For every sound of India you could ever want in one app, Swarplug is hard to beat. It’s free to use with a couple sounds. The rest of them cost about $150 accumulatively, $99 one time fee to get them in one lump. It is NOT universal, but it can function as an AU.

-Roland Sound Canvas - This one sounds cheaper than the previously mentioned apps. However, Sound Canvas is a classic rompler that was often used throughout the 90s. It functions as an IAA only, and I have no idea if an AU upgrade is in the works or not. However, it IS universal.

-Korg Gadget - This is not a rompler per se but rather a workstation. However, the vast amount of sounds you get within it, especially when you purchase other apps like iM1, iMono/Poly, etc. Gadget is universal. It has a strange pain-in-the-ass way to install the Darwin gadget (iM1) since iM1 itself is not universal, but you CAN use the Darwin gadget on iPhone.

-Xewton Music Studio - Also a workstation type of deal, but while the sounds may not be as high quality as, say, Sampletank, you do get a fantastic variety of them. It’s also far cheaper than Sampletank and is universal.

-Caustic 3 - If you have a huge collection of Soundfonts, you can use this app (PCM Synth is what plays the soundfonts). Again, it’s a workstation type of app and is universal. It also has some really freakin sweet built-in synths (including a fully modular synth!), and it has full AudioShare integration.

-Thumbjam - I’d be remiss if I did not mention this classic with all of its high-quality sounds and mad perfect live playability on a smaller iPad/iPhone. It’s not AU compatible (just IAA), but it IS universal.

If I missed anything, I’m sure other people can fill in the rest for me. :) Cheers mate, and here’s to good music making.

    nice opinion,it`s awesome

  • SynthMaster Player is another one, huge library of banks available, including sequences, arps, and drum/percussion loops.

Old thread. But I think it’s useful information for someone with similar questions today. Im a heavy nexus user on Mac and now that SynthMaster player is auv3 I’ve recently purchased it and all the expansions and been using it on all my new iOS productions. It’s the closest thing you’re going to get on iOS. Minus having some of the different genre expansions that nexus has they’re very similar. You can’t beat it and the expansions for the price! Nexus fully loaded is many $1000’s whilst all of SynthMaster Player filly loaded on iOS is under $150.

Synthmaster is full-stack synth, so it is more alternative for desktop synths like Massive, or better Serum

Nexus is basically rompler with some limited editing capabilities, so direct iOS alternative is Syntronik. It's same kind of app, same architecture - multisampled real HW synths with some degree of editing abilities but limited.

Both are synths - not romplers. Of course, in Synthmaster player you do not have access to parameters (but i think you can load into it patches from full desktop version of synthmaster ? not sure), in Synthmaster One you have access to all parameters of synth engine.

On other side - Nexus is rompler, same as Syntronik. Samples from HW synths.

  • pure synth platinum

This is a pretty solid syth or sith

    Sorry i had to.

I hear pure synth platinum is pretty great. Idk how it is on resources as rompler type synths arent my thing.

  • Korg Module Pro (not an AUv3 but still an effective ROM-pler for a single target at a time).
