Anyone having major App Store issues today?

App Store switching itself on and off, when it finally does load it won’t let me download any apps, just getting a spinning grey circle, this really is just a joke

Comments

  • This is so annoying, the App Store is still perfectly fine on Jo’s iPad 4

  • I also had a few minor issues like updates taking 2 days to show up, not loading, not searching etc

  • It’s okay for me today, Doug, but I have seen that flashing on and off thing. Solved by reboot, then renewing lease on WAP box connection.

One thing I have noticed is that there seems to be some kind of delay that Apple are doing, for updates. For example, I was reading about an update here which loads of peeps had, including UK based, but it wasn’t appearing to me. Then it was suddenly there, but marked as having been available for three days. Weird.

  • I've done all that about three times now and it’s the same, just flashing on and off, of it will eventually load but as soon as I scroll it crashes, oh well never mind..I hope there is an update soon

  • Yes Doug updates haven’t been pushing through right since the update. I had to log out of my Apple account and log back in to get it sorted as wasn’t seeing my i Cloud Drive either.

I have had all of these happen to me over the last few days, seems very hit and miss....I think perhaps this is back end problems with the Appstore, which in a way is a good thing as they can fix them without us needing updates...that we may or not be able to download ;)

  • @thesoundtestroom I had exactly that issue which remained after reboots etc.

Like @Jumpercollins I solved it by logging out and back in to my Apple account. Might be worth trying?

Two good things, in a roundabout way, is that the new App Store is saving me both time and money.

No Wish List means I’ll be buying less, and just a minute spent scrolling through the utter crap for sale in Today has convinced me to waste no more time there.

    Win-Win.

Yes, logging out then back in helps a little, but then the problem returns, I'm sure it will all get sorted, thank everyone for all the good advice and help

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • I'm getting extremely slow update downloads today and it's not related to my internet connection since all other services work just fine.

macOS High Sierra is due to be released later today so I do hope Apple gets the server issues sorted out :)

  • Been a horrorshow (updates, searching etc) since the upgrade. Funny that their shopfront is the thing that (for me) is the poorest part of 11....

  • Tip: You can pull down on the updates page to refresh it, and get available updates that aren't currently showing.

Yes. There are many things I’m starting to like about IOS 11, but replacing the Wish List with buy more shite Today, is incomprehensible.

  • It’s back to normal at the moment, great tip in the pull down on the update page too.

Yes there are a lot of things I like about 11, it’s smoother and I got back at least 5gb of memory, the app switcher is excellent (so that will go with iOS 12...lol) so overall it’s better, just need the few issues fixed and it will be cool beans

  • I can't believe how amateur the App store now is. From a design/UX perspective it's a mess. Basic functionality has been removed (wish list). Also, the way that reviews for apps now work is ridiculous. It shows all reviews in a random order, so you'll see a four year review next to one from last week. How the hell is that useful?

    I hate it so much.

Based on the uncharacteristically (for Apple) rough edges of the new App store, I get the feeling that the redesign simply wasn't ready/fully tested in time for the iOS 11 release, and so they probably had to cut back on several features (e.g. wishlist). Apple stated pre-release that IAP would appear in search alongside apps (and also presumably listed separately on the developers page) but this feature currently appears to be MIA as well.

I believe Wish List removal was an intentional design decision, not a function of readiness (or lack there of).

  • Yup - Apple removed the App Store from iTunes, iTuttle is free and I can't download it because I don't have an iPad... :s

A questionable decision, if this is indeed the case. There are plenty of legitimate reasons why one might delay purchase of an app, aside from pricing (such as waiting for certain features to be implemented). Removing the wishlist means these risk being forgotten, and thus lost sales for developers (and Apple). I can't see how this is a benefit to anyone. I feel like we will see the wishlist return again, in some form.

Agreed. I made use of that feature often as well. Now I keep track of wished-for apps via the AppShopper website.

You can still use older iTunes versions, have you tried that?

  • Yes, that will work for a while... (thanks Apple!)

It is useful so I don't see only the latest version so it will benefit the devs

  • Have to agree on all the derision above. It looks like something I would have written when I was creating terminal based applications. And both my wife and I ran into problems finding and downloading apps.

  • Still seeing a few bugs tonight took ages for the AudioShare update to show even after the pull down menu update option. Also getting the stuttering on loads.

  • Still getting a delay on apparently updated apps appearing. Yes, I’ve tried swiping down, but that does nothing. Typically, every three days, Updates will arrive.

Not liking the new Review section, which appears to be all over the place, chronologically, and quite clunky. Why not just make it latest first.

Still missing Wish List, but I must admit it’s abscence will be a money saver.
