Gadgets weakness

Really enjoying Gadget for so many reasons, fabulous app! However (like many apps) i found an annoying weakness: the effects. The knobs are 'sticky' and respond poorly (other users have the same complaint, i emailed korg, awaiting reply). Also although it's great options, the section is so small, and i feel they could sound alot better. I think korg could take a lesson from ik's syntronik in this area.
Anyone agree? Whats your work around?
-thx

  • I recently discovered, aftervdragging it out of retirement my korg nano control 2 works with the mixer In gadget.

  • Change the 'Knob Gesture' from Circular to Linear in Settings->Gadget as the knobs are really too small for proper 'Rotary' gestures. For smaller increments of values 'flick' the controllers up or down.

I still hope Korg will some day allow numerical input using a keyboard...

  • I have mine on linear- but still find it frustrating.

  • Just delete Gadget and never use it again. I did, and now I'm saving up to 50% off my car insurance

I'll tell you what does piss me off in gadget .. the tempo control. I often just enable link to utilise the funkbox tempo control in it.

  • I've actually reconnected with Gadget after sidelining it since 3.0 because of the cpu/battery usage

I reinstalled it to sample some Kamata and Kingston sounds and to my surprise it no longer uses any more resources than my other groovebox/DAWs

As for the knobs, linear mode does help but it could be better

I don’t have a problem with tempo: tap slightly above or under the tempo for single steps.

  • I don’t understand gadgets project archiving? Does it even have that option? It’s super simple with Cubasis, auria and lumafusion to archive active projects into iCloud... How can I achieve this inside of Korg Gadget?

Thank you, Samu. An excellent tip. The knob-finickiness is about the only think that has ever made me exasperated in Gadget, and this looks like a help.

Samu's tip about 'flicking' the knobs for small adjustments works in ODYSSEi and the other Korg apps too.

While you’re in Settings>Gadget you might also wanna switch ‘Hide Status Bar’ on. Gadget needs every inch (unless you're on a 12.9) :)

  • Thanks for the respones. Yes Samu's advice is on point but i still find these specific settings to be jumpy and unsatisfactory....call me picky.
It's funny how we can always find that one thing thats lacking.
I'd still rather pay full insurance and have this app to play ;)

  • one could always get keyboard and set up the midi cc in Gadget.

  • Caustic!!!!!

True! That and more space for BM3 samples.

My knobs are all assingned but thats a Very good idea!

  • Cool idea! I've always wanted a full screen mixer with long throw faders and larger buttons, larger everything for that matter. Gadgets greatest strength is its colourful UI and its greatest weakness is its cramped UI. Hitting that IFX button and getting a swivel of five fx racks done like syntronik is so up Korgs alley.

  • Weakness/biggest draw back is the lack of a decent sampler gadget with keyboard playback

+1 It would be sweet wth a simple sampler with a re-sampling option and use the knobs on the nanoKEY Studio to tweak and autmate start end and loop points and ther parameters. The pads could even be used to start & stop sampling etc.

True: The only thing wrong with Gadget is it's not Caustic.

(With the corollary that for some the only thing wrong with Caustic is it's not Gadget. I'm of both camps, personally. Choosing a workstation is a bit like playing Rock Paper Scissors, or building a Yu-Gi-Oh deck for those with a kid of that age)

And decent virtual keyboard by the way. Is useless in iPhone.
