FL Studio Mobile vs Gadget vs Cubasis?

Thoughts? I just download FL
I have all 3

  • My opinion is FLSM is the quickest way to get something done. The others are great but have more complex workflows.

    Yep.

I feel like Gadget is the quickest way to get something done, I find Beatmaker 3 to be my go to now, but out of those three Ive probably been the least productive with FLSM, mainly because when I use it I want to use other apps with it with either IAA or Audiobus and it just never works smoothly, but I can imagine if someone uses it with only the sounds and instruments inside of FLSM it would be productive for them.

  • @Strizbiz : Good points but I’m hoping FL will actually have IAA or audiobus soon.

  • I say Gadget because of all the gadgets in it but FLSM does quite a few things better in my opinion - like the piano roll, automation and some of the effects...

  • My opinion, flsm sux, gadget has good gadgets, and Cubasis is a the simplest and b most powerful (allowing for its excellent implementation of AU Audiobus and IAA)

  • All in one - FLSM
Really good piano roll, great synths and effects, easy to import audio into directwave. Doesn't play well with other apps in it's current state

Cubasis for anything that requires using multiple apps at once

Forget about Gadget and grab the superior Caustic instead ;)

  • I'm a big fan of Cubasis, it just seems to have an ease with it's workflow. I'm not all that fond of the sounds, or even the effects, but I use the Mini Sampler a lot and also route other apps into it. Plus it's good to use with AUs.

Gadget has been deleted from my device. The knobs are just too wonky to work with in many instances, and that really got on my nerves because it's been that way for a long time now, even after a number of updates and many people reporting it. Beyond that, the devices are a bit simplistic for my taste, and their are some odd things going on like ARP ODYSSEi's user patches not transferring over.

Can't speak on Fruity, never used it.

  • Cubasis. Cause it can export the project to cubase .
For me this is the biggest thing, and i really cant understand how come its the only ‘serious’ sequencer that can do this. Export to desktop.
Not talking about workarounds, and not about gadget export cause gadget cant use iaa/auv3.
With cubasis u can use synths that have vst versions, like drc, and then export the whole thing to desktop to polish it up and have better resolution then 44,100.
    This is real workflow power.
Bm3 - no midi export . (“Midi sequencer without midi export)

  • Caustic would definetly benefit from ableton link and a breakbeat slicer like abu dabi from gadget

  • Cubasis is lovely and a whole different animal, though I have been able to use it to good effect as a stand alone. Caustic as has been mentioned above is probably a better comparison w/FLSM and Gadget.

  • It just seems like FLSM has been around a long time for it to be in such shoddy shape. Makes me doubt if they are serious about developing it, and they might abandon it before it ever catches up with the front-runners in the DAW category. So I am avoiding it until I feel like it is worth the investment.

They totally re-wrote it from scratch not too long ago. It's not at all the same app as has been around all these years. They also made the decision to go cross-platform (iOS, Android, Windows Standalone, and FL Studio Plugin). That is probably way more than they should have bit off considering the small team they have over there on it. They admit that they underestimated the effort. But, it's not like companies say "Oh! OK, sorry you underestimated how hard it would be, go hire a bunch of people to dig you out of that hole! Never mind that we expected to be getting revenue from the rewrite two years ago. You just chill and make sure you're not getting too stressed now...."

Doesn't excuse it ... just explains it. Life and business are tough. What seems obvious to us couch potatoes on the sidelines isn't easy to work out in real life.

It does. IAA just doesn't work all that great yet.

Yes I totally see where you are coming from. And I am hoping the pull it together soon. They make great desktop software for sure, but it seems really hard to make money in the mobile app business, so I hope they stick with it.

  • I think if they were going to give up, they would have done it long before now.

Anybody know about a free “direct -line-content” for FL Studio? An Image Line guy told me about it on Youutube bit as far as I can tell it’s just an import from FL Studio Mobile to PC. Anybody know for sure?
