iPhone 8 vs 8 Plus RAM (2 versus 3)
So how important is an extra gig of RAM for most musical apps? Significant?
My iPhone 6 is due for an update and I'd prefer the size of the 8 over the larger 8 Plus but is 3GB of RAM worth the pocket bulge compared to the 2GB in the 8?
Comments
You are more likely to hit the CPU ceiling before the 2 or 3 Gigs are fully used. Id go for the 8 the Plus is a monster in size.
So? You can go to like 33 Gadgets before hitting 99% then? On a ... phone. Like that's gonna happen every day.
I agree with @o_imseng on this one.
Think it depends on what you're doing (or if you use apps that RAM for breakfast, like Gadget apparently). Personally, the extra gig of RAM will not affect my music making enough to make the heft worth it. I do want that camera though!
I wasn't confused in the least, and don't dispute the facts you provided. The OP was asking for opinions as to whether the RAM vs. Size trade off was worth it. So I provided my perspective ... which is that it's pretty unlikely anyone is going to be using 20+ instruments on a phone very often, so probably an extra gig of ram isn't worth the size trade-off.
Nothing personal. Sorry, I didn't mean it to sound that way (though it kind of did).
Honestly, others may be interested in the follow-up details regarding ram usage, but I'm not, so please don't bother just on my account.
No problem! I'm sure others will benefit from the useful info. I was just trying to save you some bother. -cheers!
