Audio latency study - ipad pro2 users only

edited September 2017 in General App Discussion

For ipad pro 2 users ****only! Audio latency bug study - iOS 10+, 11, and 11+

I’m listing various instances of where/when it appears and preparing a concise method/results/conclusion report to be submitted to Apple.

1st phase of testing:

  • using just the ipad and usual cans with minijack
  • iaa and au apps with ipad mic active
  • standalone and/or through AUM (will try AB later)

  • latency appears and grows in ALL apps tested so far, including AUM alone

  • disappears when jack unplugged and reinserted
(perhaps not yet waited long enough for latency to reappear - will do for a couple)

Question 1: Has anybody noticed growing latency (ipad plus jack cans/buds only) in apps where the ipad mic is NOT active?

Question 2: Has it appeared when using an audio interface using the ipad jack socket.

I haven’t found instances of the growing latency bug while using the iTrack dock (lightning), a condenser mic and same cans - but not yet looked for it specifically either.

Question 3: Has anybody noticed growing latency through a lightning interface?

(Btw, there is immediate latency from mic input using my cheap BT cans, and plugging unplugging a jack doesn’t help. That particular latency is probably a general BT problem and nothing to do with ipads.)

Please only report findings - no discussion or we’ll drown the fish like in the other thread! Please, please we must be objective about this if we wish to arrive at a solution. Thanks :-)
