Can one not use both a powered USB hub alongside a lightning charger into the USB 3.0 adapter?

I tried it and it kept making funny noises with every tap of the screen... but it loses charge if only one is plugged in anyways (iRig Pro Duo is the main battery drain)... help!

  • I have a powered hub attached to the USB 3 lightning adaptor which is plugged into to iPad charger which seems to work fine for me.

  • Ive got a usb 3/lightning adapter into a anker usb3 powered hub and it works. I have had problems with the combination of things I have plugged in but have no answers, usually it works but sometimes midi timing suffers and sometime my uca202 hangs.
    A lot of support faqs require that you only have one device plugged into the ipad! So they basically wash their hands of anything complicated. Clever!
    I really have to invest in a midi/audio usb device before I turn pro (watching iconnect audio 4+ or akai eie on ebay)

  • @Milestone_Music if it's "making funny noises" then disconnect it now!

    Is your adapter an Apple version?

    Powered USB hubs and the DC adapters they come with are of all qualities, and definitely a cheap one might not have the circuitry to isolate the 5v power on the individual outs.
    Same is true of USB cables, lower cost means less copper and crappier solders. And USB cables can become damageded.

    Try going from simplest to complex to identify when the problem arises;
    Unpowered CCK + irig-
    Power the CCK
    Put the hub in line with out power
    Try different cables
    Power the hub

    When the problem appears again you'll know which component is in error - replace and repeat....

  • Might as well start with irig on batteries straight to lightning....
