MORNING JAM: RippleMaker LaPlace Patterning Redshrike
Did this jam this am.
No mixing or anything.
Just recorded the loops into LOOYHD and then "played" the loops back while recording on LoopyHD. Posted and that's it.
I want to comment though.
RIPPLEMAKER may be the best proper synth in a real world sense. Forget algorithms and complicated Fx or MIDI routing. This app is a fucking sick bastard and deserves some real props.
The app is so good it can be used for Percussion and Tops, Bass, Leads, and Melodies in between. Hat's off Bram-master. IF YOU DONT HAVE RIPPLEMAKER BUY IT.
Then I used the 2 Ice apps. Laplace is long time favorite. This track I only used LaPlace for the Electro String -Violin type lead melody.
For the first time, I gave Redshrike some time last night. Wow. I have been missing out. I used this for the main gated synth chord sounds.
Patterning I used for Hats, Clap, Kick, and Snare.
Appreciate your listening and opinion.
I think it is important to give a little insight into what person used. I welcome questions on any of the apps and will help if I could.

Pretty cool sounds. At first I thought such wild patches deserved a crazier rhythm track, but then I got into the vibe. Sometimes a conventional component is necessary to ground the weirdness and give the listener a pole to hang on to.
Precisely~
Even if it is a bumpy dark road in the middle of no where, I still want to be in new Range Rover to drive through it.
I’m scared of ripplemaker.....I lose hours when I go near it
Now that I've listened to a few of your tunes Rustik, I understand all the weird-ass synth patches you've made a bit better. You've got something interesting going on. Enjoyed it.
Am looking forward to listening to this track with some nice loud monitors.
I am hoping that in the future Bram’s pitched Synth apps will incorporate a fine tune function. I use Ruismaker every day and have Troublemaker - one of the most enjoyable apps on my devices! Sadly I can’t really do much with synths that I can’t take off ‘the grid’ of 440hz reference pitch (nothing to do with mythological frequencies - I work with ‘non-tonable-non-standard-pitched’ ethnic instruments that I need to accommodate for digitally). When that day comes I’m looking forward to snapping up Ripplemaker.
Rumblin'
what you using for sound at 5.35?
I was shocked at how much I loved Ripplemaker after deciding to take the plunge. Did you tweak parameters in real time while recording into loopy?
What are your favorite iOS apps for non ET tuning? What ethnic musics do you do? I am way into Indian classical music. I sing dhrupad and also play dilruba. So far I have GeoShred and ThumbJam identified as available for cool tunings, but there must be other good ones.
My wife is a Native performer of Sakha (North Siberian) Khomus and I’ve studied overtone music in depth (we met though this field - unsurprisingly!). We work primarily with Northeastern Siberian music traditions, as well as whatever other random contemporary stuff takes our interest. Have a look here for a basic rundown and some music:

BeatMaker3 and Egoist are both EXCEPTIONAL for working off standard reference pitch, I also use Viking Synth (modulatable fine tune dial!!) and IceWorks stuff also all has fine tune. I’ve also had some success modulating pitch bend wheels in the past, as a ‘global fine tune’. It’s a definite work around though and means you can’t use pitch bend as you normally would.
Here’s an example of a simple track we made in iOS at 446 hz reference (simply because the instrument we used sat naturally at around E+24cents):
We just recorded the Khomus (free improv) then overdubbed voice, which was running through Samvada and RF-1 (multitracked in AUM). I added some ‘padding’ in Thumbjam at 446 reference and the guitar was tuned to pitch.
We do a lot more complex stuff live using the tools mentioned above. We’ll be recording more in the future and blogging about the creative process, culture and and technical underpinning as we go. Life’s crazy now though but it’ll be on the UDAGANuniverse URL when we launch it and I’ll announce it here.
Love it. A real challenge to make an interesting track with such a one-dimensional instrument, but you guys are pulling it off. Looking forward to following your work.
Yes I am a tweaker
Waitwut
I really appreciate it
Seriously
@RUST( i )K we both loved the track by the way. A real musical ‘adventure’!
Thank you Oscar, I appreciate your follow up.
For real
Such considerate and cool folks on this forum.
Thanks!
