  • What a great app this is, and always good to see it is still being developed. As for in-app EQ, I am a little underwhelmed. There are a dozen features I’d prefer were added.

I’m on 4G at home so watching my data usage but in app EQ has got me excited. Being able to aggressively low pass/high pass/band pass different Blocs slices would open up a whole new dimension of possibilities for ways to combine and recombine samples into new loops. Makes it a much more creatively rich prospect for me.

Will watch the video when I get on WiFi to see if it’s actually what I’m imagining!

What it needs is automation too, that would be amazingly cool

Yup. While I welcome EQ that's not something we're short of via AB or whatever, but automation would be the Nun's nether regions etc.

I think EQ in this case is something much more interesting than simply 'an EQ'. We could now combine (for example) just the bottoms of one sound with just the tops of another, then insert a specific mid band that has just the punch you want. It'll really allow a level of loop/groove amalgam exploration that fits exactly inside Blocs 'schtick' of easily and quickly combining things with other things. I think it'll be awesome!

    Appreciate the chiaroscuro, as ever.

  • So Im wondering if the eq is going to be an in app purchases? I bought Blocs before it went free and the import slice mode became IAP's so Im guessing the eq will be an IAP now as well.

It's certainly nice to get free things. I love free things. However, it does seem OK (to me) that when folks implement something new, which I wasn't buying in the first place, they add a reasonable IAP, especially if it keeps them developing. I was thinking this especially to do with the fine indie app Concentric (hat tip to @JeffH ) which is now on the verge of adding a song mode. I'd like it for free, but I would also be willing to pass along a couple of bucks to say thank you/show good faith etc....I WILL say that with Blocs (and its cousins) I have and no doubt will continue to buy odd sound packs, so they (the devs) could also be said to have an incentive to keep tweaking and polishing their material. Always good for business when the dealer gives his suckers quality product (I've heard) :)

@thesoundtestroom, I am liking this groovy tune, good one.
I’m curious about the screen recording, is this the direct audio feed? Or did you record in AB or AudioShare and sync later?

I dont mind IAP's I spent a LOT of money on them, I was just wondering if it was an IAP, lol. I honestly wouldnt see myself using it much at the end of the day though since every thing I do in Blocs gets exported into something I can arrange my project in, which I would use for eq's and compression, etc.

  • If it is IAP I’ll get it anyway, just to help support a great app and developers.

Who knows, maybe what Oscar suggests will also be great for the rest.of us. Wouldn’t be the first time that someone has spotted potential. :)

Ah yea I probably wouldn’t pick up an IAP but I wouldn’t be upset about it. Would be reasonable enough on their end (I did pay for the app up front but I understand that they’ve changed their model) and on my end, it’s nothing that I couldn’t achieve in BM3 if I needed that result.

@Hmtx This is just the audio recorded by the screen recorder, problem is it’s mono

Agree with this whole-heartedly.....it is so much quicker to do this sort of stuff in one app rather than having to export/re-import

I hope this IS an IAP so as to fund further additions/improvements :)
