Looks like IAA host only. I redownloaded it hoping to load it as a generator in Tnr-I or Yamaha MMS, but it's just a sampler still. I got all excited...
I was downloading it when I found that out, I just deleted it. It's still useless.
.
I have hemmed-and-hawed over getting this app for some time now. While I agree that full Audiobus and IAA would be best I don't see why it is "useless". What am I not understanding?
I'll rephrase that. It's useless for me.
@mgmg4871 - Why? I'm trying to understand what the app does or doesn't do well. I've resisted buying this long, but I keep returning to it and wondering if I should get it.
I'm just not into audiocopy when there is a more convenient way available. I actually like the app, but Akai hasn't responded as to why they wouldn't or couldn't implement Audiobus. Now they come with IAA support as a host. Just doesn't make sense to me. It's not like its a Daw. I perceive it as the same arrogance that drives Apple to keep Garageband on a island. I have nothing bad to say about the app itself. If you don't mind making use of audiocopy it may be useful for you. I didn't mind audiocopy when it was the only thing available.
Well, not being able to edit samples after loading them might fairly be filed under 'deal breaker'.
I just got word that Akai may be implementing AB support. We'll see.
@mgmg4871 - OK, thanks for your explanation. I'm going to hold off on buying it for now. I already have a million apps that I underuse. I'm going to guess that if it was truly wonderful that you would work with its limitations instead of deleting it for its omissions. I also read some of the newer reviews in the app store and there seems to be a fair number of unhappy customers. Plenty of satisfied ones too, but enough disappointed ones to discourage me from buying it.
@MrNezumi You should take a look at Beat Machine. I think it's on sale for like $.99. I really like this one but I had issues with it being too CPU intensive. I downloaded it again and no more issues. I'm not sure what it was because there were no recent updates. I played with settings a bit, but I thought I did that before. I'm running it via AB into Looptical with no hiccups.
.
iMpc for me have much more other problem then AB and IAA:
I think for now I think they must work to this thing if they want people love this App...
Because have really beautiful feel....and I like very much...
Theres stil nothing that can replace the BS2 drumsampler for me (i use it as an external instrument in cubasis).Because of one big reason:it has 8 (EIGHT)padbanks with 16 sounds simultaneously. This is very important to me,i can put all my favorite drumsamples in one big set without loading and loading and loading sets just to find the right one.I dont know whats so hard to implement about it.Even on my old iPad 2 i could use multiple instances of BMs drumsampler without getting in memory trouble.I wish they would give me the sampler as a single instrument...
BS2?
Nice demo vid. Thanks for posting @Simon.
Unfortunately, Akai doesn't want iMpc to have additional features. They are paranoid and feel that it would threaten their hardware (controller) sales.
@mgmg4871
sorry,i mean BM2.Althoug it should be obvious cause there is simply no other drumsampler that comes close to it ;-)
i don't care about iMPC anymore. They made their descision, easy to make mine. And I will never ever use Tabletop, that's for sure.
Yeah this right here.
Akai decides what features it's products get depending on where it stands in it's tiered product line. Unfortunately, iMPC is at the bottom rung of this tier. What's even worse is that iMPC was meant to be paired with MPC Fly and that bombed and got re-fashioned into the MPC Element, which now takes advantage of the MPC pc software. This is a company that will abandon a product line without a second thought, so who knows where this app will be in a year from now.
Such a shame, so much wasted potential. If this app had song mode, a sampler, program edit, and a midi editor, I would have bought this in a heart beat. As it stands now, well, I'm actually surprised they even updated it for iOS 7 and IAA. Our only hope is that Akai gives Retronyms free reign to turn it around into an app that's worth a damn.
I'm agree. But beeing so useless (and not really a bargain)...it's always in top ten list of music apps.
Anyone can explain me that? Thanks.
@fjcblanco Three words: Brand Name Recognition.
I hear that....update please
@Audiojunkie So, it's just a kind of sexy-marketing appeal? (I want to say that I had dowloaded the app long time ago, and it's fairly well to my beginner-amateur purposes).
I mean..."I have downloaded". Sorry.
@fjcblanco I think so. The Akai MPC series are considered 'The' Drum machine. They are the first name to come to mind for many people. I think the iMPC is a popular seller because a lot of people like to feel like they can own an MPC for $10. The problem is, AKAI chose not to flesh out the application like they could have. @Context is correct, I believe, and AKAI don't want the iMPC eating into their hardware sales......my own thoughts and opinions of course....
considering the MPC renaissance costs over 1k, I think it's safe to say that yes they don't want the app to do anything remotely close to what it's hardware equivalents can do.
The same could be said about Native Instruments and iMaschine,
It just sucks that with this app in tabletop you can sequence it, and it's more fleshed out. My problem with it has always been not wanting 600mbs of tabletop taking up space on my mini just to really use this app. It kinda even blows that they didn't add IAA in it for effects. Hell I wouldn't mind playing around with it here and there if I could use my own effects, AUFX, instead of theirs. Also I was hoping the that mpc fly came out so maybe they'd open up the hardware for midi controllers, because I'd love to use my nanopad with it.
I have only One doubt: Mpc Element have The same product Level of Mpc Fly, why The Essential software have match more features then iMPC?
I would be very happy to have the same quality of Element's software (Essentials)
That have 8 pad banks, 4 layer samples for any pad plus 4 effects too, sample Chop, and is compatible with pressure-sensitive Note Repeat.
Thanks for the shout out to Beat-Machine. It hasn't been updated yet, and I'm very sorry! I spent the whole summer trying to rework Beat-Machine as well as get Jam Synth ready and I didn't even play with iOS7 (even though I had it). So my software got rejected because it didn't work right. I fixed it (again) though, and I even found some new tricks that allowed me to reduce the cpu load by 25% when connected to audiobus but in the background. So dropouts when recording into another app is less likely now with both apps. The Apple dance has restarted and they're both coming out this month haha. Beat-Machine will be 99cents for a while because I'm pretty confident that Jam Synth will be successful. Hooray!
