Cubasis and Roli Lightpad Block
hi
I was trying to use my Roli Lightpad Block with Cubasis.
But wasn't able to connect and make it appear as a selectable input device.
Was no Problem in Garage Band. I just had to enable support for MPE controllers, activate Bluetooth on my iPad and then the device would show up.
Anyone here knows how to do that in Cubasis?

Update: must have been blind to not see the MIDI setup.
Got the Lightpad Block connected and it shows as connected.
But now I can play on the Lightpad Block as much as I want, no sounds are triggered.
Noise is loaded as an AU instrument, the track is armed. Routing input is set to the Lightpad Block.
Hmmm...
if cubasis doesn't accept bluetooth midi, maybe use an app that can read bluetooth (thumb jam for example) then use midi thru to send to cubasis
ThumbJam has MPE aswell
Oh and it has slide over aswell so quite versatile
Thanks for sharing that idea. But as I wrote in the meanwhile, I was able to connect the device. Cubasis shows it as connected.
But I don't manage to trigger any sounds.

you have to configure your bloc to do regular midi, (in blocks dashboard)
I would need the Block to be connected to my Desktop / Mac in order to do this. But I need it connected to the iPad, so that I can use it in my apps.
Or am I missing something?
yeah you have to connect it to the desktop to set it up ...

Hmm. And after setting it up with the dashboard, I'd have to disconnect from my Mac. And then connect it to the iPad? Will that configuration to regular MIDI remain after disconnecting from the Mac?
yes the lightpad stores whatever setting you save in it. (in standalone midi mode) ... this wont change how it works with the noise app
Great, thanks
Hi all,
Sorry for my late reply.
We're in exchange with our friends at ROLI to discuss the topic.
Best,
Lars
Cool, thanks for letting us know
cool, i use my light block on my computer mostly, but i did t realize so many ios apps are mpe
compatible. what apps have mpe ?
That’s interesting
I just know about GarageBand and Noise and Animoog
sweet, i think maybe thumbjam is too?
Yes, but ThumbJam pitchbend settings allow only for a max value of 24. Setting of the ROLI Lightpad Block is 48 as a standard. So pitchbend doesn't quite react the way you'd want it to. Someone wrote that the standard setting of the Block can be changed to 24 using the ROLI dashboard software. But you need to connect it to your desktop or laptop to do that. And then, settings won't be right for GarageBand like this. So you'd have to switch back and forth. Which I find not too great. I don't wanna turn on my Mac to set it up for use with my iPad.
Probably there is something that I didn't do right? But I guess it's the way I described it.
Hopefully there's gonna be a dashboard for iOS in the future.
Moog Model 15 is doing the job as well.
Also in Moog Model D the mod wheel is not working as in Animoog with my Roli Lightpad and it seems not to be programmable.
For the rest I have the same problem with my Roli Lightpad and Cubasis, Auria Pro and Beatmaker 3, so I hope you find a solution
