overcome arrangements problem on ipad??

garageban 2.2.2 on ipad

here is my problem, i have a problem knowing when to sing in the correct places. i've tried counting and all but i don't seem to get it precise because not everything is about the beat, right?

then i seen the arrangement track tutorial, but it's not available on an ipad version.

any ideas for this dilemma?

In most popular music vocals start just before the beat, which is why it can be hard for singers to get their timing right. For a more detailed explanation check out the segment at 39'48" in this video:

Ultimately you have to feel it, with some practice you can get the hang of it, but understanding that you need to come in half a beat before the start of the bar should help.

  • How about making a track with audio cues to help your timing, then mute it when you export?

Yes, that's what I've done, for recordings with long sections where vocalists get lost, doing overdubs. Usually just use the stock drum kit, to make a count in. Works great for pauses, or cueing tempo changes, when doing overdubs to music that hasn't been recorded to a click.

Learning how to count music, and dissect timing is a very valuable, left brained skill, though, because you can nail transitions faster, before you have the music in your head.
