Seriously. And I'm not talking all-in-one apps but a fully tricked out recording studio. Synths, samplers, drum machines, effects, MIDI sequencers, composition tools, a shiny new DAW, mixing and mastering tools, etc. And, yes, I can always send it all to Reaper on the desktop if I feel the need.

So, twenty-three years ago I moved from rural Cornwall to London in the hopes of leaving factory work behind and getting a career in music (whatever that meant). I signed up for a sound engineering course at a college in south London and after two weeks I thought - this is it, I have found my thing. When I returned for the third week, the ashen faced tutor told us there had been a break in and all the studio equipment had been stolen. They had to cancel the course for the year while they sorted out the insurance, etc. I went down a different path.

Fast forward a couple of decades and here I am. I have a tasty music collection but I never got into producing tunes for some reason and I always assumed it was out of my budget to really get into it anyway. Then my 7-year-old son started asking about how the music we were listening to was made and we hatched a New Year’s resolution to make music together.

Now I have everything I need. I said to myself that once Quantum and Axon were out, that would be a good time to slow down on the purchasing and the forum and put some real time into finishing something. Of course, I’ll still pick up the fun new apps but now it’s time to focus. Even without finishing a track, the therapy-like effect it has on me validates the time spent making squelchy noises on the sofa.

So first up, a track with my son. He’s written a little rap in honour of Cassini and we have magpied some spacey sounds from TC-11 to drop into it. I’ll share it here for a bit of fun once we’ve pulled it together.

This is a top forum (when we keep away from the religion and politics). I love the interaction with developers and the respectful knowledge share that takes place. I have also just read that Apple may have fixed my iPad Pro noise issue. Oh and it's Thanksgiving Day here in Canada. I had to write a few words :smile:
