An arranger-like more or less?
I do think, @Tritonman, that you want inversion shifting. A key change is quite effective in the hands of brilliant songwriters like Dolly Parton or Maurice Ravel, though....
Yeah changing chord in real time for all melodic patterns in the current playing section would be great, being able to record the resultant notes into a new scene would be even greater
Chord input could be either by onscreen buttons (I,II,III,IV,V,VI,VII) or by incoming midi note for the root, or by pad number (1-8) from a launch controller...this would really elevate Groovebox
It's what makes Xynthesizr so remarkable and versatile.
Dolly and Maurice. What a lovely couple they'd have made. I think a feel a soap opera/musical coming on....
I've not tried Xynthesizr, I must investigate it
Yes do yourself a favor and check it out. I find myself trying out all my new synths through it straight away leaving me free to tweak knobs and sliders on my controller . Great fun!
How do you do a key change in Chordflow then? Actually how do you even select a key in the 1st place?
Tritonman, how do you run your new synths through Xynthesizer? I have always wanted to do that as well but I don’t know how to. Could you please explain this process to a newbie like me? Thanx much!
Man! Couldn’t get Model 15 Arps to Output as midi into Groovebox. Can Xynthesizr accept input notes and output the arped midi notes?
Yeah, i might have to get that for the ipad but right now on the iPhone any ideas?
Open xsynth and your app. Go to midi settings and select the app under midi out and check notes out and clock out then set your channel choice. Then open your synth app of choice and make sure it lists xsynth under midi in and you should be good to go, I think that's it pretty much.
Now, how about separate Midi chans per device?
Hmmmm, not sure how to put it in words nor did I find any youtube videos that I thought sold it well. but it is the beez neez!
Terrific update, thanks @AmpifyxNovation!
One minor weirdness: The section arranger button doesn’t show up until a second instrument is added to the first pattern, or until I exit and reload the song.
The arranger is... not what I had imagined. I pictured something that would step through sections sequentially. But after a short play, I can see how this solution really suits the groovebox ethos, and look forward to trying it with a hardware controller (?).
Essentially, all sections/patterns continually loop in the background, only the selected ones sound. My only criticism of this is that when a short section (eg. 1 bar patterns) is playing, there’s no way to see where a longer section (eg. 8 bar patterns) is up to. This is fine for grooves, but when using multiple patterns to express longer, more complex phrases/progressions it can be difficult. On the other hand it’s a playground for happy accidents.
Copying patterns between sections and between instruments while playing/recording is a nice touch. If I can get myself out of the ‘program and press play’ way of working I see this being a great environment for live looping.
Thanks again, great job. Roll on the weekend so I can dive deep into this.
Just dusted this off and tried it. Is it just me or does it not accept CC in? I'm trying to control the parameters with Launchkey controller knobs and getting nothing. Only notes work.
Yes midi in is notes only at the moment.

AFAIK there is no plan to do this yet, but I would also love a guitar module. Plus Song Mode, and especially Midi out, so I could get Groovebox playing Sample Tank sounds.
While we wait, though, this is a big stride in the right direction, for a top quality app.
Pads are mapped to drumbox afaik...
yes, the pads send midi note messages
Thank you Tritonman,
Another noob question, what number do I set the channel choice to? Sorry if this seems so basic but I really don’t know which number to go with. Thanks very much for your kind help here, I really do appreciate it. Cheers!
If your just doing one synth Omni should do . if more than 1 send from channel 1 to channel one on first synth, channel 2 to the second and so on.
I'm not the best one for guidance on midi I assure you. I barely make it around myself trying some things but it's getting better and sure is handy.
I was trying to point that those midi messages are the same of the drumbox set without need to manage anything to match them. With another keyboard I don’t know if the work as is due somekind of drumpad standard. Let’s hope @AmpifyxNovation include more of these direct mapping meanwhile grow the midi implementation for other controllers.
Brilliant, thank you @AmpifyxNovation for this feature addition. It was the one feature missing from Groovebox.
Before on the couple of bits I've done I had to make a pattern in GB, export it to Cubasis or Auria and then make a second section on a new GB project exporting it to then see if everything works....big hassle.
Groovebox & Blocs Wave are excellent tools for inspiring new songs.
I am sure they will have plans for controller integration, as part of Novation they have a vested interest in controllers
@AmpifyxNovation Is there a plan to export scenes to Launchpad, ala BlocsWave in future? cheers.
Also, would reeeeaaaally love those controls to be midi-learnable. I've got plenty of Novation controllers that are all sticking their hands up and vounteering for that role!
Am I missing something here? Is there are a way to tell the 'sections' to only start playing when the current one ends, rather than it jumping in right away?
Not as far as I can see
