Xequence and Infinite Looper
Both apps are great but I hope they will have a child together...
- Infinite Looper is amazing to make loops fit together and create arrangements
- Xequence is amazing to build the structure of a song, the intro, the verse etc...and there is no limit in term of tracks number
Please have sex together
Comments
infinite looper also handles imported multitrack midi files smooth as can be
There is a track limit (four) for Xequence until you pay extra for unlimited use. Still very sexy though.
Pssst. Just use Beatmaker 3. You get Loops, Linear Timeline, Scenes, Audio Tracks, IAA, AU and Midi connected synths and a great Sampler.

...but X and IL are inspiring...
Has beatmaker stopped crashing a lot yet?
And Beatmaker 3 is too.
No iPhone version though.
Well there is that. I only use Groovebox and Gadget on iPhone. I need my space
Ahem. Not sure what my wife would say....
;-)
Will have to take a look at Xequence -- don't want to rip them off, or step on their turf, but it sounds like they've got some good ideas.
Aiming the water cannons @SecretBaseDesign... 3... 2... 1...
You guys compliment each other nicely. You've got the clip-launching / looping thing going great and bridge that with the song mode, which is brilliant. Xequence has the pure time line based thing done quite elegantly, with a nice bridge to looping with their pattern duplicates.
I'm not so sure about the cross breeding thing myself. It can lead to mutants.
@SecretBaseDesign I'm really interested in Infinite Looper, but I can't find the answers to a couple questions, although I ready the manual.
When using an external synth and turning a knob that sends CC while recording a clip, will it record the CC data into the clip with the notes? In some other apps (ahem.. BM3) you have to setup a macro ahead of time with the right CC number and thats a real pain.
When using a Novation Launchpad, is clip launching automatically mapped? Does feedback for the LEDs work too?
I can create MIDI loops while synced to Ableton Link and never have to stop the transport, right?
Thanks.
Hey -- I think I caught you by email already, but for the folks playing at home:
Yes -- you can record CC into the clips. You'll need to turn that on (it's off by default). Tap the gear icon, switch to the automation tab, and toggle on "Record CC automation."
There's a button there to clear the CC from an active recording loop, or you can also clear it out on the piano roll. If you're recording CC, just be aware of how it works -- if you do a pitch bend up in one pass of recording, and then a pitch bend down in a second pass on the same loop, it'll sound like garbage because the bend messages will interleave. Same thing if you have two active loops on the track, and CC messages that go in opposite directions.
With launchpad support toggled on (gear icon, switch to the MIDI tab, and then to the Launchpad sub-tab), you can have the LP buttons toggle on/off loops. You'll need to configure the MIDI destination here so that the app can send the MIDI messages to light things up on the Launchpad. The six tracks of Infinite Looper are the first six columns on the Launchpad, and you can display the first eight loops (if you add more loops in a column in Infinite Looper -- sorry, the Launchpad only has eight rows, and you can't see them).
The loop record mode is designed to keep grabbing stuff, and dropping it into "new" loops, sort of the way Logic does "takes" in loop record mode. Start the drum track or whatever going, get into the groove, and just play -- if you get something you like, grab that take, and throw it into the project.
Things will sync with Ableton, but I don't have the full transport control done yet. Should be in the next update.
No problem!
Thanks @SecretBaseDesign
Hey also wondering in Infinite Looper how to assign different MIDI inputs for each track? I want to sequence two different hardware synths with their own keyboards, so each need discrete in and out. I only see Global input though. Any way to do this?
