Chordflow is a compositional tool, rather than a performance tool like most of the others. What I appreciate about it is not only that I can quickly knock up some chord progressions, but I have full control over how those chords are voiced. For me voicings are a huge part of harmony, and most apps don't do a good job of supporting it.
And by voicing I mean anything from block chords in inversions, to arpeggiation, to walking bass. It's flexible.
What’s walking Bass?
There are not that many keyboardists on the planet who can play what Chordflow outputs, at least not without sheet music and a lot of practice. The number who can improvise four-part counterpoint is even smaller. I think it's a great tool for generating material, but clearly the output is going to need some tweaking to make it listenable as a standalone piece of music.
That said, most people are probably going to use the output as is, to make an evolving pad -- and that's cool too. I'm looking forward to hearing the results.
It's what a mainstream jazz bassist plays on a standard tune: four quarter notes to the bar.
I have been sending the playheads to four separate instruments for the initial sketch and then inverting/flipping/copying/pasting notes between them in the daw.
I consider myself a decent musician who can find my way around chord progressions and even push myself outside my comfort zone with chording when it's helpful. I use Chordflow for when I'm not sitting with my guitar or keyboard and I want to work on a melody or a lyric when I'm driving around in my car, etc. Just have ChordFlow play the chord progression through my iPhone and I"m productive as I'm driving to the Costco.
Man I hope you're not driving in the lane next to me.
I guess I should have noted that I set the basic chord progression before I start driving. And only tweak slightly at stop lights...
Hmmmm, have to wonder if forum postings are admissible in court...

Love at first sight or should I say listen! I’ve been looking for this!
^
THIS!
I'm super glad ChordFlow does!!
the update is great! undo and velocity would be a request
I see there is an open square in the upper left of each section when you select "edit" (next to delete, clone, rename). Here's hoping that the last square is for MIDI learn!
Melody Tracks are coming.
Just been playing with the beta, this app just keeps growing. Hope it gets AU midi soon.
Yup melody tracks are sweet, and you can choose the scale for them. Also the app looks a lot better now visually. My only wish is that you could limit available chords to a scale/key or something but no big deal
I’ve been enjoying too! I wish there was a way to have each channel play at different speeds. If I change to 1/8 all 4 channels follow the same.
OMG!!!AWESOME!!!
And this is why (he says in his best Jean Brodie voice) titles about releases/updates should always have dates, because I've looked at this twice thinking there was something shiny waiting for me but THERE ISN'T YET GRRR.
I'd love to see how this has evolved. Without scale lock, it was a little bit like a cat running over a DX7 keyboard. Albeit a very interesting and rhythmically accurate cat.
Well I've had just the beta install for a while and honestly haven't really looked at it until today. It's completely different from the look of the first version, feels much more organized. With the melody mode and the new look I suspect the dev will enjoy some more sales.
That would be... just... yes... yes, it would.
The big thing missing is different speeds per track for me.
The new (beta) version is joyous!

Love the new look too.. blue interfaces make me seasick
I've asked the developer to consider adding MIDI clock sync for use with a computer DAW/Other MIDI gear.
I also suggested MIDI note input which would turn this App into the mother of all polyphonic arpeggiators!
Felt a bit bad/demanding considering the development work that he has already done. That being the case, I think you should all buy this because it's great and deserves support

this is done by tapping the box/button in the top left of the pattern editor
Thanks!
Thanks also.
