No idea what they are offering up, but it has my interest. https://www.facebook.com/output/posts/1784450728254261

Might be a very cut down version as the original has a 20gb sample library and is $200 usd

    What’s next for Output?

The focus is to create a more flexible instrument that we can start to grow from, and still continue to create the Output content that we all love. We want to deliver that in an intuitive and effective manner for consumers and get out of this box of forcing people to install 12GB of content at once.

We’re trying to optimise the experience so users can just get what they need when they need it. We’re stoked to show you our vision of the future producer’s workflow!

  • More likely to be Movement as an effect, rather than a library, as that is currently a standalone /VST outside of Native Instruments, so I'm guessing there are no license issues. Be interesting to see what the announcement is.

The cynical part of my brain reads that as:

'We want to split our content into packs so that you can buy chunks at a time (where the collected price of the chunks probably far exceeds buying all the content at once).'

On IOS there are limits to how much content you can have, and it is usually at a discounted price over the desktop, but for a desktop user this possibly won't be a good deal.

As I said, probably just me being cynical.

I'll bet a beer that the bot above me will be going on a spamrampage later today.

Edit: bot seems to have been preemptively removed already :D

My brain read it as we want to charge you a monthly fee for access to content that you can download in small chunks at a time.

That’s exactly my interpretation. They were pretty much describing a subscription service without actually using the word subscription..
