Positive Grid....a new app on the way...and it's packing a punch!!

Positive Grid has a new app underway...aimed at guitarists, and it is a hard hitter!

This clip is JUST the amp...no effects added. Dry recording of the different gain stages of my signature amp. Still needs a little tweaking, but initially, it sounds great. Used audiobus to feed the sound into AudioShare

Wow! It has flames AND lightning bolts ;-) Congrats.

  • Sounds great!

How is this app going to be different from JamUp (which is also aimed at guitarists, I guess), besides offering new amps? Really curious about that!

And also, when is it due?

  • I can't say a whole lot about this just yet...it's VERY hush, hush at the moment...I WILL be compatable with JamUp...just not the same....definitely a "first" for iOS guitarists. This will be the end of all the rest....

I'm testing like crazy right now...I hope it's released soon

  • Derek, if it's so "VERY hush, hush at the moment", should you really be teasing us with those samples at all? ;-)

  • Lol...it's my amp...I'll do what I want with it. :) thing is...I think it sounds pretty good right now and it's not even in the final stages. I can wait to tear this thing up! Hell, I can't wait for YOU guys to tear it up!!

  • I was teasing you, of course, Derek (in return) :-D It sounds amazing - but now we're all dying of curiosity!

sounds good...... cant wait utill its ready

  • Hopefully it will be their first app with IAA.

  • Sounds really good! :-)

  • Drum machine...new amp...new effects...all this teasing from you/Positive Grid but when will anything actually materialise? I cannot hold on to all my IOS cash allocation for ever!!!! Only teasing but cannot wait.

  • Oh my...this sounds really great Derek, but I gotta be honest you could make a carboard box with 1.5 watt speaker in it sound great...top man..top app..

  • Nice sound @DerekBuddemeyer! Anxious already!

  • @DerekBuddemeyer I know you are made a Masterizing App....it's true???

  • Mastering app is still on the horizon!

  • I'm wearing for the Beta :)

Still curious about this new app.

JamUp (and most of the other amp stack apps) already seem to have everything a guitar player would want: amps, effects, even cabinet and mike simulations...but, you still have to bring your own guitar!

So, perhaps it will add some kind of guitar simulation?

Play your own crappy supermarket guitar and have it sound like any vintage Tele, Les Paul or B.B.King's Lucille?

  • @mmp lol...can't expect us to do EVERYTHING for you! Yes...you'll need a guitar. But you won't need an amp :)

No, lol, I'm not expecting you to supply a guitar as well but...OK, so it has amps...but, JamUp has amps, Amplitube has amps, Ampkit has amps, StompBox has amps, and they all have effects and cabinets and some even have recording equipment too...

Just trying to guess what the "first" it is supposed to bring to guitar apps, will be...and thought that maybe emulating different pick-ups and authentic guitar-specific sounds might be it, that hasn't been done yet AFAIK...
not even sure if that would be possible at all, making a (real) Les Paul sound like a Telecaster in the app, or vice versa, or something like that.

  • What I want is a really good acoustic guitar emulator. You play in the the electric and it sounds acoustic. I don't think anything quite does that yet. I would guess that would be a tough thing to do to get all the fret buzz and string slides and all that to sound like an acoustic.

  • I was hoping they were going to take me up on my request of a souped up GarageBand Smart Guitar engine or at least a Line 6 Variax killer.
