  • I asked the dev at some point about an iOS port and he said it would be a pretty massive leap.

Basic layering of synth apps can be done in Audiobus 3 or AUM. AB3 also has a small-but-growing set of midi filters to do various utilitarian or musical things.

For more powerful midi processing, you'd need to introduce midiflow (the stand alone app + IAPs) or MidiFire.

There's also BM3 which can host AUs and has macro controls which in turn are midi controllable. I'm not sure if you can assign more than one AU's parameters to a macro control though.

  • Check out syntronik

    Yeah, Syntronik is a powerhouse!
The IAP ($40) is worth every pennies!

And, the effectsection with the 37 effects really rocks! Good quality!

  • I just did a little experimenting.... this isn't exactly like a combinator, but

if you load up a Multi and then use MIDI learn so that turning a knob on Synth A changes the resonance
You can go to Synth B and set it up so that it changes the resonance too. Or anything else.
When you save it as a new Multi it will remember the MIDI assignments.

A more creative way to use it would be to assign knobs to like resonance and cutoff to the sounds like pads and leads,
And then for an arp sound, use a knob to control the velocity, length or swing.

This doesn't have the simple interface of a Combi, but if you had a standard way of doing it, it would work on all the multi patches you create.

I think I will share this on the Syntronik thread too.

  • i’ve never think before to use midi learn in my case,it sound great, thx alot~~:D

  • Audiobus!! Audiobus!!! Audiobus is basically this! Multiple instrument lanes with multiple effects, that can be controlled by the same midi input channel, and saved as a preset. Beauty! Seriously, I'm shocked that we are in the Audiobus forum, and no one mentioned this as the very first item to come to their mind!

I need to read more carefully!!! I stand corrected....

  • wondering nobody mentioned it till yet..

there is pretty great alternative to reason’s combinator - just a LOT more powerfull :-))

    Zmors Modular !!

It can load AUv3 and IAA and make complex patches...

unique app... it’s like Combinator on steroids

thx dude, its amazing, ill try it~~

  • Does Zmors do the MIDI processing part?

yeah it does... it does a lot stuff , this thing is pretty deep.. only limitation regarding AU is that AU loader module have only 2 MOD inputs so you can modulate just 2 au instrument parameters by external source (which can be midi CC or LFO, Env, build in step sequencer,..etc) ... it is also possible to send / receive CV signals using usb audio interface... that thing is monster, check it http://www.zmors.de/zmors-modular/

ps. you can even tweak midi controller module by writing custom javascript code

ps2: it have also PureData patch loader module !

how about audulus3?can it do the same thing?

  • Cheers, @dendy. Must investigate further.

The early 90's workstation quality to the sounds, which you either love hate, aside, iM1 is a combinator. It does layers, splits, velocity switching. 8 layers.

iWavestion, same setup, but weirder sounds.
