AU synths that are compatible with Garageband's "slide to pitch bend" keyboard feature?

ISem doesn't include this capability :'(

I think Noize does but I'm looking for a straight synth app.

Does zeeon or Mood have this feature?

Any recommendtions?
Thanks guys!

  • As I understand it, Garage Band internal instruments all support MPE, just as their big brothers in LogicProX.
That's why Noise will do the trick, too and others won't.
I might be wrong, just a guess.
Animoog Supports MPE, but not AU.

  • Ah cool - so I guess any AU synth that supports MPE should work, theoretically at least?

Seems like PPG Infinite and Noise might exhaust the list then - cheers tho!

The MPE thing is "just" a theory of mine.
So we'd need someone who owns PPG Infinite to share his wisdom with us.
Any PPG Infinite user reading this?

  • Just read the description of PPG Infnite.
It says that it supports MIDI mode Voice per channel, which is one essential aspect of MPE. You need this, so you can bend 1 note up while bending a second note differently, which is what you can do with the GarageBand keyboard.
    So, it's likely to work.

  • The video may come in handy foe controlling.

Just gave this a try MPE...doesn’t seem to work with PPG infinite

Thanks for testing. I assume PPG infinite had a setting to turn on MIDI MPE mode and you had it turned on?

  • This video shows how to get it working with PPG Infinite and Phonem:

  • AU Infinite works for me in GarageBand when I set the MIDI mode to different settings you’ll get different responses from the built-in GarageBand keyboard depending upon the preset you use. It also depends upon whether or not you have the velocity enabled or not.

Using GeoShred to control GarageBand requires another app as GeoShred sends to virtual ports and GarageBand listens to virtual ports. If you have an app like MidiFire which you can send the MIDI out from GeoShred to MidiFire and then GarageBand will listen for and play the MIDI sent out from MidiFire output port. Set the MIDI in GeoShred to PPG and the MIDI mode in AU Infinite to VpC inside GarageBand. The way Infinite plays will also depend upon the preset you use for GeoShred.

Do you get GarageBand’s pitch keyboard? Not seeing that here

    Same here

  • It seems to me that the keyboard in GarageBand effects the filter cutoff in the Infinite PPG AU for some presets rather than pitchbend which GeoShred does well with the MIDI Out GarageBand preset in GeoShred rather than the Infinite preset yet you still choose the PPG MiDI Configuration which you get to via the ... menu on the top left of GeoShred. Despite being AU, there are still a lot of moving pieces with respect to setting up MIDI to get the most out of AU synths in GarageBand.
