Best iOS11 vocoder + autotune (RIP Vio)
My need for this kind of tool doesn’t come up often, but there’s a need right now, and I no longer have anything I’m happy with now that Vio has been left behind in the great iOS11 app purge.
I quite enjoyed the simplicity of Vio. It was great at mixing vocoder + autotune + scale lock features intuitively, with a clean interface, and just enough features and sonic possibilities to be going on with.
I have iVoxel but I don’t get along with the interface unfortunately.
Anyone?

Voice machine?
Best vocoder on iOS is the Korg iDS-10.
Setup a midi keyboard on channel 5, record your voice or type in some text, then hold down a key while playing some other keys for maximum joy
I think OT needs realtime vocoding not sampled. Can the iDS-10 work with external audio input?
Unfortunately not, that would be a great feature to have. you can record multiple vocal lines across the patterns and play them in over your tracks. Takes a little time to setup and wouldn't be useable in a live performance.
I think virsyn has another app which does this sort of thing? I haven't got it but from reading the description it might be an option.
VoxSyn by VirSyn

Vio is one of the reasons that I have not gone to 11. Of course, Alchemy is another.
I think Caustic has the most powerful vocoder on ios. Can use any sound as the carrier
Vio still breaks for me on 10
VoxSyn is what you want. Nails the classic vocoder sound whilst offering many other crazy options. 800 presets or something silly like that.
Anyone try Sparkle - Advanced Cross-Synthesis?

It may have a slight learning curve, but the results are superb.
.
Fellas let’s drop some videos about each one... yo!
Voice machine synth 2

Voloco is the closest thing to Vio - in fact it's much better IMO
Can't ever get anything decent out of Voxsyn unfortunately. iVoxel on the other hand is very good, but it's not plug-and-play in the same way that Vio and Voloco are, you have to spend quite a bit of time setting it up.
Thanks all for the recommendations, will check out the ones I don’t know already, starting with Voloco I think.
Voice Synth has a very harsh to brittle vocoding sound.
My favorite is the abuse of Sparkle
this is not really cutting, but may give some idea (it's just a loop from a country track with live tweaking applied with a lot of fake carriers)
yes, it's absolutely clear that Sparkle is NOT a vocoder, that's why I talked about 'abuse' and 'fake carriers'
But it can come out with a similiar sound character and may do stuff a traditional vocoder does not.
There is nothing remotely comparable to the EMS and other vintage analog gear in IOS.
They all seem to have a cold making their voices tinny, which is often compensated by a ton of fx.
Oh wow. ApeSoft you gotta do it!!
100% THIS!!!
Yeah, a simple vocoder app that nails the classic sound would be great. I don’t need 800 presets, or loads of options. I picked up an old Electro Harmonix rack vocoder recently that has maybe six sliders on it, for setting the relevant levels, and that’s it! Sounds amazing!
What’s the roland boutique vocoder like? Anyone have it?
