non destructive slicing?

Hi dudes, which of the many apps out there in ios land offers non destructive slicing in sample chopping? I figure bm3 may now have this but in case there are others please let me know. I'm talking BOTH start and end points repositioning. for example if I have four slices and I want to move the start and end point to make the slice bigger, the points on slice 1 and 3 should not be affected in anyway. hope this makes sense.

they have this on a drum machine I was thinking to buy but there is no support for this 'THANG' whatsoever. also, this may be a standard feature now within daws now, I wouldn't know because am just getting back into the sampling thing after years-long hiatus. Help greatly appreciated. Thanks dudes!

  • In BM3 by disabling 'auto-snap' while slicing the start/end of each slice can be freely moved without affecting the other slices. See the slices as 'windows' to the source sample, they don't have to be one after another.

  • Thanks boss preesh8 it!

  • I'm wondering if there would be any other example such like that found in bm3, to be else in any of the other apps??

  • If 6 slices are enough you could assign the same sample to 6 pads in say Elastic Drums using the sampler?
Or automate the 'start point' for each step and keep it all on one pad. The sampler is IAP though.

The Cubasis mini sampler references the same sample even if it's dragged to multiple keys if you do not trim it.
If you trim it a new sample is created. You can still change the start & end point on each key without trim.

If there is no need to 'perform' the slices any daw with audio cut&paste could do.

If you need old-school 'tracker style' slicing nothing beats SunVox...

  • thanks bro, good info!

  • I don't have it yet, but the description looks amazing. It's $5 off right now, too, I believe.

Gonna check out some Youtube vids on this one.

It is great, but I don’t think it will work for the OP though since I don’t think the slices can overlap each other.
