Ok losing my mind. How to loop a pattern or sample in BM3

Hello,
I have looked everywhere and can’t find or figure what should be a simple task here. I recorded a plug-in into BM3 and I just want that to loop in a section of my song. For the love of God I can’t find out how. I’m sorry if this is such a noob question. I have tried to look for an answer.

  • Ummm... Do you see where it says, ‘not looped’, between the 2 red circles? Tap on that!

  • Hmmmmmm. I’m an idiot. Thank you so much!

  • Happens to the best of us

  • BM3 does this to me all the time. Don't take it personally!

  • Once BM3 breaks you then life is very good.

I was up till 3am eternal last night. Keep discovering new items in BM3.
I’m pretty sure BM3 was saying this to me all night.

    One you lock the target,
    Two you bait the line,
Three you slowly spread the net
And four you catch the man!

  • Bm3 is still unstable af and takes for ever ( and ever ever) to load up a session.
Maaan, it pushes me right back to Gadget and from there, because of the lack of a good sampler (and real audio Support) riight into the arms of my desktop pc and my fabolous Maschine Mikro mk 2 and Studio one. Kinda sad though :'(

'Song' and 'Pattern' are your friend. Ignore 'Scene' completely.

Ironic since scene is most important to me. So vexing.

Erf? Exactly like me. But I find Bm3 i super stable. I use it for hours on end. Sessions of a couple dozen banks running several AUs load in seconds.

Sometimes it's more the AUs you have in the session/project that drags the loading time. I'm running iOS 11, iPad Air 1 and BM3 is stable AF, takes long to load with huge AU synths in sessions.

Zeeon, Mood, the klev synths, the virsyn synths are all quick for me. The only long loader is isymphonic.

Are you on Ipad or Ipad pro? Ive heard lots of thing s about issues with the pros when it comes to latency and distortion among other things that 11.1 is supposed to fix. Im on an Air 2 and its been nothing but stable for me and i use BM3 a LOT , I mainly use audio unit synths and apps with it.

Im on the regular iPad. I think IAA could be the reason why Its so slow.
In every last sessions i had, at some point, the zoom function was not working as well. Couldnt zoom on any audio track in song mode. I had to restart then. Buggy as hell : (

  • Complex AUM sessions can take a long time to load, but the nice thing about AUM’s design is that you can see exactly what’s taking all the time, so you aren’t as quick to blame AUM. I have one such session that Turnado often fails to load the first time.

With BM3, Auria, and some others, there is no visual feedback what’s going on during load, so it feels like it’s the host to blame.

What I’m getting at, is that load loading sessions might be the fault of a particular AU, IAA, or combination, just hard to tell which.

For me on my Air 2, BM3 load times seem reasonable, but getting DRC working in it is giving me constant grief in the track I’m current working on.

I’m becoming a bigger fan if BM3 every day, and feel I’ve only scratched the surface of what i can do with it.

  • Ok I have another question since @AudioGus got me hooked on BM3. So far I have been just loading a plugin and then recording the output I want into a pad. This works great. But now I wan to use like steppolyarp to drive a synth and push that output into BM3. I tried late last night and could not get it done.

Is something that I will have to create in AUM or Audiobus? If so will it all sync up ok?

    Thanks again for the help.

First a water divider: are you hoping/trying to record the midi or the audio, when you say "push that output into BM3"? :) Sorry for answering with a counter question, but both variants of the reply you'll give have their own work-arounds...:)

  • @hellquist Sorry. Want I want to do is have a app like quantum or steppolyarp drive that input into a synth then record that into a session I already have in BM3. I found a video where a guy does this with Refraktions, but man I got it to work once but it seems like if you change anything it won’t do it any more.

So let’s say for this instance I just want to record the audio.

Maybe I am so used to my desktop apps and daw that did not have to worry so much about this. I want and will make this successful on iOS. Thanks for the help.

  • Ah yes, so that is one of BM3's niggles: you first have to assign your audio plugin instruments to a pad, because everything is based on those pads (at least until the coming update if I understand it correctly, I'm not a beta tester).

When an instrument is on a pad the original intention was that you then sample your instrument, and then play/trigger those samples. However, for us who are used to "regular" DAW's we prefer to record the audio on the channel where the instrument in question is loaded, right?

So, what you do is you still assign your instrument to a pad, lets call it Pad1. Then you go to Pad2 (another pad), but on that one you select sound source: Pad1. You then arm and record on Pad2, with the instrument that is loaded on Pad1.
