Novation Circuit and iPad Multi Jam.

edited October 2017 in Creations

A little jam I did yesterday using my new Novation Circuit and iPad.

  • There is a considerable latency in circuit sound. Is it running into the Novation interface by any chance?

Yes it is and the Novation Hub is plugged into the iPad. The video shot during the Jam is just a mash up as mentioned in the description so ignore any key presses from that as it was recorded after the jam! I managed to use the Midi Link Sync app which seemed to work ok between the Launchpad app and the Circuit.

I'm not talking about the lag between audio and video but the sounds from circuit against everything else. I had exactly the same problem. Basically if you’re run circuit into audiohub you will add Audiohub’s latency to the signal which will result in delayed sound. Try and plug circuit into the mixer if you can. Of course if you have all inputs occupied then you might need a mixer with more inputs.

I’m only saying all this because the difference is audible and the sync will be much tighter. Nice jam by the way.

Oh ok thanks for all the advice see what you are saying now, wasn’t aware that the Audiohub had a latency problem with the circuit. It’s early days for me with the circuit and only really get weekends to play with it. Will do a few tests with and without sending through the audio interface to see how bad it is.

  • Cool. Best way to test is to just have very short bleeps or hihats at same intervals running from both machines, but you probably already know that. GL

  • If you want to sync Launchpad app with circuit, use the Launchpad IAP for MIDI Sync output...works great, plus you get a nice start/stop button for Circuit on the LP hardware :)
