Lofi sounding apps?
Pretty impressed with AUFX:Dub and was curious if anyone had any other favorites for creating lo-fi effects for hip-hop, vaporwave, etc.?

Beat Machine has a fantastic bit reducer.
Moon Beam Synth Sampler is fantastic and lo-fi. I love it. I just can't quite figure out how to make it play with other apps.
One of my favorites tricks is recording the output from the iPad speaker with my field recorder. Sometimes I run the headphone out of the iPad into one of those mini Marshall stacks that run on 9-volt battery and clip to your belt, then record that. Basically I'm looking for crap speakers to do the "dirty" work.
Sugar Bytes Cyclop
Very yes. Find them here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/developer/erik-sigth/id385275335
Also, Holderness' Caramel is quite nice.
Mellotron is really nice for lofi sampled instrument sounds, sounds especially dope on boom bap type of stuff. I use this one: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/50th-anniversary-edition-mellotronics-m3000/id375100093?mt=8
There is also a free version with less sounds and more sounds can be purchased and an ultimate edition with all sounds.
I havent tested other mellotron apps, but there are a few.
If you dont know what mellotron is, you should definitely google
Moon Beam
werkbench?
AUFX: Dub and Master Record are always on the master insert effects on Cubasis for me
All the recommendations here so far are on spot too.
I really need to try it more (maybe buy the iAP), but would add Waverails to the set
all of Igor Vasilevs apps!!!
+1000 for Moon Beam
Also, ToneStack. With some clever effects chains in there you can essentially turn anything you run through it into a lo-fi app.
Moon Beam is a cool one, no doubt. Phawuo is another one. EHX Mini Synth might be worth a look as well.
If you have AnalogKit, I shared an FM radio distortion effect you can run external sound through. Rather than chop the tops and bottoms of the waves, like conventional distortion, it will skip cycles of the audio, randomly. There's a slider to "tune" in and out, and tip the probability the cycle will be skipped. Some other widgets in there for introducing filtered noises.
One lofi technique, I've been trying lately, is enjoying the sound of white noise, or filtered noise, into distortion. The clipping of distortion turns the noise into a random, off/on kind of impulse, more crackley, rather than ssssss. Distorting a synth, while adding in some of its noise with the oscillators, can have some nice, organic chaos to the sound, that sounds different from just adding noise to a synth patch.
Cool tip. Gonna try that later.
bent.fm is the bee's knees for tortured, busted keyboard/fax machine type sounds.
I think we have a winner, iOptigan!
