  • Sugarbytes wow.not quite tho

  • There is an effect labeled "Formant" in DFX. Also, Cubasis has a Talkbox effect as an IAP, if that is what you are looking for.

  • The DFX looks tasty but I‘m looking for something which I could use live as soon as Soda is out. I dont know if it‘s IAA-Compatible but it is AU. And I really don‘t want to put my Kick and Base through sth that alters my sound.
But thank you, I‘ll keep on looking after these two.

  • I believe there are some Formant-type filters in many apps, like in Propellerhead Thor, but as a single filter I'm not aware of a specific app. What you can do is to go into Audulus and build the filters there, or use one from the very active user library. There's for example an excellent Human Voice filter bank where you can input almost any sawtooth synth sound and output a beautiful warm voice sound, reminiscent of the Roland VP-330. Probably there are some other modular synth apps with such options.

Sugarbytes Wow is your best bet, I think they call it a vowel filter instead of formant but fairly sure it's the same thing. Unique is a synth by the same developer that is good at making this type of sound.

Edit: Just loaded Wow, has been a while. There is a small set of lips that turn red when enabled and you can do this vowel filtering using any of the available filters. Don't think this was in the original release, had a quick play and it's a very nice addition. Thanks for starting this thread!

  • Sunvox contains a formant filter, can be used as a IAA effect.

The controls are a bit small (I use a mini) but you can even change the vowels by sliding up and down. Maybe it was always there? No mention in update history of it being added.

This is very nice, seems to be morphing between selected vowels and the tones vary a lot depending on filter type!

  • When you own Waldorf's Nave you can listen to some presets which come close.

I do luv nave and the formants are usualy my fav. A formant fx filter AU with automation in BM3 would be ideal.
