All the stupid things I’ve done...
Every time I opened gadget, my project would be there, so I was pretty sure gadget auto saved my projects every time I started a new one.
Turns out I hadn’t saved a gadget project in years.
I would load up a ton of stuff in audiobus and tweak away. I’d save it and think... thank heavens for state saving! I hadn’t realized that it’s actually too much information for AB3 to hold every knob tweak, and you actually need to save the preset.
Half of my AB3 project are probably referencing the the exact same preset.
I love that Beatmaker 3 autosaves. But one day I cleared the autosaves and lo and behold...
all my chops were in the autosave folder.
I hope this spares someone, somewhere, from doing stupid things like me. Feel free to add light below for the dim ones.

I feel your pain having experienced this years ago, just as I was about to play a set a friend was enthusiastically wishing me well and knocked the external hard drive off the table. I had never thought to backup and thousands of hours of work was lost in an instant. I dwelled in regret after this event and lost my motivation for almost a year.
If I could go back in time I would tell my past self to let it go and move on asap, view it as a new start and that what I had learned would ensure the next stuff I did would be better automatically.
I had assumed Gadget did the auto save thing so your post has helped one person so far.
