According to those rankings the iPad Air 1 and iPad mini 2 have lowest latency of the entire iPad range! The newer devices score better on 'glitchiness'
Interesting information, yet these were based upon single app setups. They also mentioned that tablets with larger screens, “may have glitches independent of CPU capabilities.” The study doesn’t really address issues related to more complex setups where you run multiple apps and the effect of GUI animation on audio glitches as well.
While some people claim iOS 11.1 solves their audio problems it’s important to bear in mind that audio glitching can be affected by:
1.iOS version
2. Specific audio setup
3. Only apps used in the setup are running versus additional apps runnning (e.g. IAA zombies).
4. The amount of GUI animation (e.g. switching between apps or scrolling in apps).
5. Running wi-fi or Bluetooth
6. Notifications or other background process (e.g. comprehensive list @brambos posted)
7. Attached external hardware
8. The degree to which a particular setup is approaching the limits of the iOS device.
9. Latency settings
10. The complexity of presets and polyphony used can significantly impact CPU resources.
If you want to know if an iOS device will meet your expectations, answering the above questions would be helpful.
