Ampsim AU

Hey, I'm wondering why none of the ampsim apps have been turned into AUs by now. Is there any particular reason why nobody seems to be able to do it?
In Auria there are plugins like Overloud and JamUp, so what's the holdup with AUv3?

    No profit motivation? I'm guessing it's pretty hard to build a convincing cost/benefit case for doing so.

    I asked a similar question in another forum and was pointed to Tonebridge which works as an AU.

    Yep.

    For new apps, it might make good sense to just build it as an AU from the start. But retrofitting old code and old UIs ain't free. And considering all/most of the amp sim apps are heavy on IAPs, they couldn't easily get away with charging for a new version (since IAPs can't transfer and invested users would be upset).

    Is it possible to enable AUv3 functionality via IAP? I don't think it is but if so, that might work.

    Works would be a pretty loose definition. :D

    Let’s just say it shows up, but isn’t going to remember anything the next time you come back to it. So not a true AU. But it’s nice if you’re recording and don’t need to tweak later.

    I don’t know what you’re referring to when you say Tonebridge is not a serious AU, please explain.

    I do think in general, Apple has done a poor job on documenting their AU standard based on the comments from various app developers on the forum. Different AU hosts and AU app combinations can have difficulties recreating the exact parameters of a setup or being able to recall AU presets across AU host apps which undermines some of the basic strengths of having AU standards in the first place. Using Tonebridge and various AU host apps demonstrates some of these issues.

    Tonebridge just been updated to work better with GB. Not tested it yet.

    I think not a serious AU means that tone bridge gives zero control over the fx or amps. It can match a song guitar tone but there's no making your own

    On the other hand, it’s the only AU ampsim available at the moment as far as I can tell, at least for now. I’m sure that will change. A Flying Haggis AU would be most welcome.

    Definitely. Simple enough it would all fit well too. I always wondered why it was ipad only
